Im mixing these guys together, because while they are big they arent all that important anymore. Im indifferent on both, though SEGA have for me released 2 of the best games of the generation there has been a lot of shit from them. Capcom have been quite similar, though they didnt release any games that made me think "wow".

SEGA. Valkyria Chronicles, I think is the best game released this gen. It blew me away and only Red Dead came close to the "impact" the game had on me over the last few Years. Its a masterpiece. Its a diamond. It stands out in a franchise that was mishandled by SEGA.
They let Sonic fall into a deep, deep hole too (Though Colors and Generations were a step in the right direction). Oh, and Bayonetta (While it wasnt exactly developed by a SEGA team, it was published by SEGA) is the best hack n slash Ive ever played.

On the other hand, Capcpom have tried ever so hard to ruin the Resident Evil franchise with RE6 and ORC after RE5 was actually a pretty good effort (Im serious), there is another plus though with Revelations. Devil May Cry is now going through the transitional phase, where the core fans of the franchise are getting pissed off.
The bright spots for Capcom are big, Monster Hunter shaped spots with a little bit of Street Fighter and Dead Rising mixed in. Lost Planet was mediocre at best
While both have released some really good games over the last generation, there has been some almighty fuck ups.
