Forums - Gaming - What are your thoughts on SEGA and Capcom?

I like almost all game from both.

I need a new Shenmue from Sega and a new Breath of Fire from Capcom.

I like some of their ips. The worst thing each of them offer are

Sega: Movie license games, not localizing some of their rpgs and yakuza games

Capcom: addiction on dlc, content locking, rereleasing the same games over and over, stating that the horror genre is dead and killing off mega man

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

They both have been meh, frankly all these big Japan publishers havent been the same.

Sega is turning SOnic around, and i enjoy Yakuza, but its like they lost all their old IPs or dont care.

Capcom, same thing. They arent doing anything im interested in. Was never a big RE or MH fan. THe only thing i like are their fighters and they are trying to ruin that with milking.

Sega is pretty much dead to me at this point - for giving up on making new games and not localizing Yakuza 5. Which, is pretty sad.. seeing as I was a big fan of them back in the 4th and 6th gen. They've made some horrible decisions lately and tbh.. I wouldn't be surprised if they go down or get bought out in the near future.

Capcom can blow a big one unless they stop ruining their games. Whether it be from; producing pieces of trash like RE6, cheaply outsourcing their games, or trying to nickle and dime their fans at every chance they get (until people get tired of their bullshit). They, like Square Enix.. either lost, or got rid of most their talent, so their capacity for making good quality and creative titles has basically gone down the pan.

Indifferent about SEGA. I have a Dreamcast and I thought the system was great. That's the only reason I respect them really. They have done nothing to gain my respect this gen. I do enjoy Shinobi on the PS2 and I still play it, and I liked their offerings last gen, but this gen they have not provided anything to sway me. I have not tried Sonic Generations yet, but I heard it is very good. Perhaps I should give that title a go before I cast them in a negative light.

Capcom .... my love for 2 generations. I bought almost everything Capcom produced on the PS1, N64, DC, PS2 and GC, but this gen it appeared to me the honeymoon was finally over. I disliked some of the decisions they made pertaining to their long standing franchises (Megaman and RE for instance), and I really disliked things like DLC on disc, their constant repackaging of games and simultaneously screwing over early adopters in the process. I wasn't exactly swayed by their titles this gen either. I probably own a handful - UMvsC3, Super SF 4: AE, DMC HD, and a few other games. The previous generations my libraries comprised of around 40% Capcom titles. I do intend to acquire more games from them in this gen, including Dragon's Dogma: DA, Lost Planet 3 and a few older titles like SF X TK. I also respect them for taking some risks this gen - albeit not many (DmC and Asura's Wrath). I hope they'll dispense with these bad decisions and do better next gen.

I like SEGA. They push out a lot of titles that I like. I'm glad they still run the Yakuza series; I like the Phantasy Star games and I enjoyed Valkyria Chronicles.

They let Sonic get into a bit of a rut but they can still release decent games every now and again (Colours). I enjoy the Sonic racing series that they spun off from it.

I also like the fact that they tend to support a wide range of platforms, Vita included.

I like them less for their efforts in localising. The fact that Valkyria Chronicles 3 hasn't made it across yet is pretty depressing; same with Yakuza 5. The fact that none of their rebooted 'Shining' games have come across either is pretty sad. But otherwise, I'd say I like what they put out.

Capcom I'm indifferent towards. Apart from Breath of Fire, I don't think they've ever run an IP that I particularly like - and that's dead in the water at the moment.

Gregory Horror Show was a nice, quirky little title that I really enjoyed on PS2 then they dropped it like a rock. The Street Fighter Ex series was alright. Dead Rising was some shallow fun.

Unfortunately I've never really been able to get into the Resident Evil series; nor the mainline Street Fighter games or Devil May Cry. I've tried repeatedly to enjoy Monster Hunter but it's really not my kind of thing.

Without game series I enjoy, it's pretty hard to feel strongly one way or another about them. I wish they supported Vita more but I don't particularly dislike them for it. So indifference, pretty much.

Sega has blast processing and Capcom is always fighting Marvel
They killed off Sonic and Megaman respectively

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

Hey, at least you got it at all! Although word is that was more SCEA's fault than Capcom's.

I like Sega.

Capcom can go to hell. They killed too many good franchises. Viewtiful Joe, Megaman, RE, etc.
