Oh don't you know its because God of war is in the bargain bin? Its the only reason it can compete against "Full Price" Gears of War. ;)
God of war £20: http://www.game.co.uk/en/god-of-war-ascension-170877?pageSize=20&categoryIdentifier=10225&attributeName1=Price%20Range_EN_GB&attributeValue1=7
Gears of War £24.85: http://www.simplygames.com/info/19680/Gears-of-War-Judgement-Xbox-360 been that price for 3 weeks.
Oh Uncharted was £9.99 (Now £14.99, NEW) http://www.zavvi.com/games/platforms/ps3/uncharted-3-game-of-the-year-edition/10609838.html?affil=awin&awc=2549_1367926347_9f3aab692cb7b7dd872f81718ae22e02&utm_source=AWin-47868&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=AffiliateWin
PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

Whilst I disagree with what he's saying, Sony creating a niche IP isn't what the Vita needs right now. It needs something massive, and releasing a game in their more popular franchises which isn't an FPS rather than throwing out new IPs all the time would help the Vita no end. These "niche" games make the system more appealing for the very select few and does nothing for the long term success of the system. |
Good point. I fully agree with you in terms of strategy, but as a consumer I'm more than glad that they made this game. I also think that it has helped vita hd sales in Japan, which is something. I believe that if they put some more effort in the sequel, it might turn out to a very successful ip in Japan. In the west, I've no idea what they can do any more, but surely a gt6 prologue (exclusive) and a god of war spin off would probably be a good move.

Dead Island, how fitting.
Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Dead Island lives on at No1

07/May/2013
The Zombies keep on coming as Deep Silver/Koch’s ‘Dead Island: Riptide’ takes a second week at No1 (-32%).
Warner’s ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ (-40%) remains at No2 and Square Enix climb 2 places to No3 thanks to ‘Tomb Raider’ (-3%). As the football season draws to a close EA’s ‘FIFA 13’ remains a perennial favourite, climbing 3 places to No4 (+13%) and Capcom drop 2 places to No5 with the second week of ‘Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen’ (-41%).
Activision are also on the climb this week as ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ rises 5 places to No6 (+34%) and 2K/Take 2’s ‘Bioshock Infinite’ drops 1 place to No7 (-17%). Nintendo’s 3DS ‘Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins’ remains at No8 (+7%) and Nintendo are also at No9 with 3DS ‘Luigi’s Mansion 2’ (-5%).
Namco Bandai/Paramount’s ‘Star Trek’ drops from a debut position of No4 last week to No10 (-52%) and the lone new entry this week is Sony’s PS Vita ‘Soul Sacrifice’ debuting at No26.
- Soul Sacrifice ~2.2k
Is 2,2k good? I have no idea how big a part UK sales play in global success. I said in the SS thread that I would get the game when it's availbale through PS plus but I found a good offer and took the bait. Gotta support new IP.

No. It's about 1/8th of what Monster Hunter debuted at (combined).

no its god awful. |
Agreed.
Internet forums sure aren't an inidication of a title's popularity. Unless it sold tons of digital copies, which I doubt.

It's funny how on Shopto Soul Sacrifice was number 1 in preorders and is currently the top selling title. http://www.shopto.net/
Are their sales that bad? How do they make any money?

Screw you bank holiday, messing up my Monday morning charts.
Well, Soul Sacrifice, that's not very good. Although at least we can have a week free of "OMG NO VITA OR WIIU GAMES IN DA CHARTZ" posts. I shall take this minor victory.
I suppose when the Call of Duty of the genre opens to 6.4k on the dominant handheld then you can't expect too much. Europe didn't buy Persona 4 Golden either, so gotta rely on USA to pick up the nichey slack!
I wonder if Gears will see a GoW style boost when it reaches £20. It's already been teetering on the edge of that price point in a few places (someone linked a £25 price point). Maybe £20 is the magical number. It's £15 for me personally.
