Forums - Gaming - Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection won’t come to Xbox 360 due to MGS4

VG247

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection isn’t being released for Xbox 360 because one of the contents, Metal Gear Solid 4, isn’t available for the system.

Speaking on his radio show, Hideo Kojima said in order to release the collection on the system, it would take too much work due to the amount of data in the game.

“I’m sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn’t being released, because an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasn’t gone on sale,” Kojima said. “To explain the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous.”

Since 360 doesn’t use Blu-ray, MGS4 would take up seven DVDs.

“I want to put it out [on Xbox 360],” Kojima continued. “But we won’t be releasing it. “When the next Xbox console [comes out], maybe we can release it [The Legacy Collection].

“If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it’s not The Legacy Collection.”

The Legacy Collection includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition and is out in North America in June on PS3.

Thanks, Kotaku.

I like that he says that "maybe" in the Nextbox they could.

Maybe when the next Xbox comes out!!!

This makes sense, handling seven disks for MGS4 alone would be a nightmare...

But that would make codec calls with Otacon very interesting xD

good to hear that he would probably do it if there wouldn't be the space problem. kojima is really all about multiplatform now which is nice for people who don't own a playstation and won't next gen.

Didnt Selnor bet his house that MGS4 would eventually be on 360?

OTACON: "Hey Snake, remember last time on Shadow Moses? You have to change your disk...oh wait, lol BluRay."

SNAKE: "But Otacon, this is a Xbox360, not a Playst---totally unrelated gaming console..."

OTACON: "Aww, sucks..." (Watch None Piece on youtube for reference)

And MGS.

But you could copy all of them on the HDD before starting the game, so the ridiculous between chapter installs would be gone.

Also it would need less than 7 discs. They just calculated a 50GB Blu-Ray - a 8GB 360 disc = 6,25.
This release of MGS4 (anniversary edition) is 30GB, so 3.75 discs would be needed.

Remove some languages and compress video and audio (which is always done anyway) and it would easily fit on 3 discs.

EDIT: But that's okay, it's their decision. If they don't think it would be worth it to port the game then we can't do anything. Though there is at least hope for NextBox.
Though it doesn't bother me since I own the game on PS3.
