Yes the LTTP 2  is brighter but I take that as the colors just being more vibrant in modern tech.

No, that's BS. Modern tech can make it bright or matte. The devs have all the tools they need to tone down the lighting and apply the color style and tone that best suits their game. You could say that the SNES version was limited, but you can't say that modern systems are limited.

@KHLover. I prefer the darker pic, but I still dislike both pics. I do like the alttp2 dungeon pic I posted through.

Damn you, now I'm wasting my time editing this pic to find a coloring I like...really fun though^^

How about this one:

:) It's already a bit better, but the 3D models still look stupid. And the fushia is out of place.

Haha, can't really change the 3D model (will try now, though). About the fushia...I'd say those are artifacts caused by messing with the colors^^

That's just the thing when I look at LTTP I see the developers trying to get that cartoony look as much as possible but just cannot because of the snes hardware and when I look at the 3ds version I see them achieving that goal. So maybe it is really a matter of perspective

I don't think so, brighter colors were available on the SNES actually. I just think it's a question of better visual direction back in the day. Remember, Nintendo has had to dilute its teams thinner so as to output more games. This isn't an exception.

Bright green and fushia above.

Isn't that from the GBA?

Hmm, could be, let me try again:

It would be easier to just load up the VC tbh.

The fighinting mechanic has to do again with tech, could you imagine how awkward it would be if Link tried to swipe vertically in a 2d game back in the snes days (or maybe he does who knows) again the mechanic suits the tech it would be irrational to give him different angles of sword swings in a 2d game, I'm still trying to figure out whether he is short and fat in LTTP or just a really weird perspective.

Imagine if the tech were able to do, in a top-down view, enemy targetting and having link face his ennemies in obliques, and then reducing the number of enemies on screen, and changing the speed of his attacks (z+A, B). The game would play very differently from 2D LoZ.

Again this has to do with the tech in 3d games (which Im guessing you are talking about otherwise my post would make no sense) in a 3d game like OOT you don't have a 360 degree view of the terrrain like in a 2d zelda you mostly see what is infront o you, it would be very annoying if they threw enemies from behind all the time in 3d zelda with you not knowing they are there. In order for that to work the camera would need to be fixed like say GOD of War (also 2d zelda have a fixed camera).

Another fun few minutes^^

Fixed hair, might get a tad too dark now, though. Starts to look more like the Sacred Forest than Hyrule Overworld XD

It wasn't inexperience with the art that made it dark. Look at secret of mana. That game is a lot brighter.

The pic I posted the game is secret of mana 2  (at least I think so in english) release later in the snes cycle see how different it looks (although the inexperience devs I was talking about were early nes titles)

Here's our benchmark:

I don't think we pass.

Too much black inside the tree, for example. Wavy textures on grass that look like grease stains. The "sprites" are uninteresting.

The thing about older Zelda games being more "actiony" isn't entirely true. What was at issue was that enemies were always trying to get you, their attacks hurt, hearts were rare, death was easy, none of which really came back around in 3D Zelda until Skyward Sword (although enemies played more defensively in Skyward Sword, which still kept it diluted)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

IMO it's the gloss that does it, too much gloss and highlighting, and not enough undertone.
