This is why.

Mobile gaming isn't the problem. I believe it's mostly a matter of lack of advertising.

Plenty of 3DS ads out there. Nintendo gets celebrities to advertise the 3DS. They even got One Direction at one point. You can't say that people don't know it exists....people know. They just don't want it.

if it sells 20 more million in its lifetime that would give 50 million.. is it still a fail?????

Those weekly numbers are wrong, wait for NPD numbers.

Because gaijin don't understand a superior Japanese product.

They rather spend money on some new smartphone that only makes phone calls, sends text messages, browses the internet, has GPS, plays games, plays videos and music, and has access to thousands of various apps. Who needs features like high definition, high density OLED screens, modern components, and 3G/4G connections when you can get a sub-VGA screen and components that are several years old in a trendy plastic brick?

I think more than hardware sales, it's the software sales that's actually sorting of failing in the west.

Here's a better idea... how about Nintendo releases a handheld gaming device that's less than $100 and has games for $20 or less. That's the only way you're gonna be able to complete with smart phones and tablets in the long run. Nobody wants to spend $150-$200 on a device that only does one thing, and is bulky to carry around.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

It's not that poor, given the economy. People just can't get as much shit as they used too.

The economy is starting to improve though.

Februrary NPD (2010) - In recession

Nintendo DS - 650k

Feburary NPD (2013)

Nintendo Family (3DS + Wii U + Wii + DS combined) - 455k

3DS approximately - 189k apparently

That's a pretty stunning stat.

The economy is still terrible compared to what it was in 2006. Don't deny it's still a damn valid point. Not to mention that we can't expect people to still spend money the way they used to coming out of an econmy crisis, even if it has improved a little.

Its not selling poorly.... Is it? Strange, it seems like everyone (not really everyone) has one.
