they are small parts of a game which let every game look like the best or worst games ever made (graphically). i mean, those guys who make the gifs always do it to praise a game or to talk crap about it. you use only gifs of a console game which looks awesome in reality so that's not so bad but sometimes when i see those gifs i still think they don't really represent the real game. they often have a higher or slower speed which gives that special feeling (don't know how it's called but it's the same when you use a slow motion cam for a crazy stunt in a half pipe or something) and don't show the flaws the game has (because the gifs have such a bad quality that you can't see it) even if youtube is also bad but i still think people should post more gameplay as video and less as gif. |
There is a difference though. Just like screenshots: A gif can be made to over-represent the game as well as under-represent it. Hence why Gifs I take with an own capture card is actually legitimate ;).

Did you really want to make a point with a fake zooned picture? "Omg. I've seen this before. It was debunked on GTPlanet. It's a low-detail LOD model with the camera zoomed way in. And that second pic is from GT PSP." Fair enough... do you want I talke a picture from the same car here? |
You can do whatever you want. Even if this is a bull shot, we know that the vast majority of the car roster list doesnt compare to the premium models, both outside and inside. That claim alone disproves any argument of being the best looking racer.

Hot damn, I'd forgotten how awesome PGR4 looked for its time. Not just going off the gif here, I used to play it at a mate's house. I haven't laid eyes on it since '08, and this inspired me to look up some videos; I'm amazed how well it has aged considering how early in the gen it was.

Yeap... gifs looks worst than the graphcs on TV... I agree. And the gifs in the OP are easy GT5 ones... there is no way you can compare with real-life. Bolded: Do you really said that? |
the non premium cars are straight ported from GT4 or even the PSP GT. I haven't seen worse looking cars in all racers I've played this gen (PGR3+4, Forza 2-4, Horizon, Dirt 1-3,Dirt Showdown, Grid, GT5 Prologue, NFS Most Wanted 2005 - Most Wanted 2012 etc.)
The standard tracks are a tiny bit better.... maybe launch graphic levels.
The worst thing is you are being forced to use them when you start a new carreer (might've changed with the patches, but there was no way around it for the first few months). So you can't even choose if you wish to play the nice GT5, you need to beat the "PS2 version" before you can get to the real game.

I don't know how to use a TV with lower resolution and choose only standards cars helps in your doubts... GT5 is the best looking racer in consoles. |
Forza Horizon leaves it in then dust. No crappy looks trees and non-premium cars there.

That was a free DLC with the new Corvette Prototype... after the Jan 2013 the cover was removed to show the car layout.

Anyway I have better pictures from the covered prototype.

I agree the some standards cars looks ugly compared to Premium but standards still looks better than GT PS2 or GT PSP cars... and there are standards cars that looks close (or even better) to Premium too (the biggest difference in Permium cars are the full detailed cockpit... no other racing game did that in this level of detais).
PS. You can choose to use standards or premiums cars since start... you just bought a satandar one for the first car.
These are standards cars.
