Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Fiscal Earnings - 70 Million Profit Year-End, Q4 - Loss (70 Million)

Yen saved their asses, but a profit is a profit.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

So... this is good news, or bad news?

3DS software sales:

Animal Crossing - 3.87 million
Luigi's Mansion 2 - 1.22 million
Kid Icarus - 1.18 million

4 million for AC. Woot.

Glad to see Kid Icarus getting well deserved sales, and it's undertracked.

It's kinda both, lol. Basically the weakening yen saved Nintendo from a very bad year.

Good news that they made net profit, but badnews cause Q4 losses and the fact that yen saved their asses. Terrible for WiiU but nice 3DS software numbers.

It's not enough to get Iwata get fired or anything I think.

In my opinion, bad news as they were saved by the weakening yen. Their business model has remained the same as last year, a money losing transaction.

Bit of both.

Good news is, they didn't lose any money.

Bad news is, it's only a little better than last year.

But with the currency exchange rate pushing the other way, it became a slight profit instead of a serious loss.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Well, a profit is a profit. Could have been worse, could have been much better.

Their Wii U prediction is optimistic but possible. Does seem like VGC is about right though.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

The kinda worrisome thing about the 3DS is it's numbers from last year in Q3 and Q4 are way down year over year. Which is unusual for a platform entering mid-cycle, it should be accelerating greatly right now, not decelerating.

The 3DS software attach ratio is not very good either.

DAMN, Nintendo is changing most of its board of directors. New department heards are about to step in hmmmm....
