The Vita would have to sell 100k more than the 3DS for 5 years straight before it closes the gap. Maybe it will pass the 3DS in one region, but overall it will never outsell the 3DS.

Yeah, unless the 3DS stops selling and PlayStation becomes the "thing" again. 3DS should really get up there in numbers by the time it is all said and done, hit 100mil+ probably. Vita will be good to reach PSP levels.

Like the DS lost its appeal against the PSP? 

We have seen this several times, by the time that happens 3DS library will be huge and the next Nintendo Gen handheld will be around the corner.

Could you really describe the 3DS as the underdog?

Don't think there's any question about which handheld will be most successful this gen, here's hoping the 3DS keeps getting decent support so it can match the DS.

No not a DS vs PSP like influence. More just the 3DS device itself and the exploding mobile market. Essentially the 3DS won't reach DS levels. I think it will sell less and have a big drop off like the Wii did later in life.



Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

There's no doubt in my mind the 3DS already won, Nintendo portables always do.
You make it sound like there was a chance of it not winning.

Well..its is cheap, user-friendly; it has an excellent library of games and many others are coming; it engages social gaming with all its StreetPass, off-line and on-line features...no wonder why it sells a lot. We all agree that right now it´s the most successfull handheld of THIS generation. Period.



its not cheap, its actually the most expensive hheld Nintendo has made by far...

Alot of people made it seem that way when NGP/Vita was announced and released.

Despite what history has shown us time and time again, people always seem to think the more powerful console(s) is going to destroy the less powerfu console(s) just because it has more power.
