Forums - Website Topics - We need a ignore-feature.

An ignore feature is good for trolls, but to be honest except of a few annoying fanboys we don´t have too many trolls. I know none, and the mods are handling every trolling overcautiosly. I think we don´t need it.

It would ruin a drinking game I have with one particular user who manages to fit a certain games series into any post, regardless of how related it is to the topic at hand.

A simple way to ignore a user is to skip over their comments when you see their avatar. You don't HAVE TO read their comments.

In theory yes, in practice it works the other way round. Avatars compel you to read in the vein of "what's this idiot got to say this time!?" We've all been there, countless times.

That's not how it works for me unless I get a direct reply from said person..

Power to you then mate.

Sounds like a terrible idea.

This works well against trolls that are clever enough to avoid moderation. If you can't read them, you will not answer them.

The problem is  you will also read  the qouted comments. So  even if the people you want to ignore are "removed" you will read others and automatically read what they are replying to  and when you realize that the person whose comment you just read was quoting someone you blocked  its to late  xD

I think an ignore feature would meet the criteria for "useful" functions this site could have if anything else. Even if it is not completely necessary.

I don't use it because it's more inconvenient actually if you have to backtrack all the way to settings panel just to read one post so a thread discussion's context makes more sense... even more awkward when you open a thread and the OP says "blocked" lol. I'm OK with skimming and skipping, I do it all the time especially if I am time/attention span constrained...

I think all users should get 1 permaban to freely give to any user of their choice

The best ignore is the mental ignore, it never fails.

*Nods* This is what I was going to say.

If people really annoy you that much, then try not to quote them or talk to them. Or personally send them a message saying that you don't want them to ever talk to you again.
