I thought I was the only one. 

XMB is a nightmare and the one thing I dislike about PS3, so I feel for Wii-U owners. With that said, the new update seems like a remarkable difference, so good for them.

Good lord the PS3's XMB is super slow, it's disgusting to see Nintendo also doing it wrong :(

Wii U's load times were laughable before the update,  did this affect loading within games though?, sometimes It felt like the PS1 was faster in loading areas.

Not really.  The timing in the video in the OP was off that favored the PS3's.  Not saying the Wii U's loading times are amazing.  However, I think another thing people need to wrap their minds around is that April =/= Summer.  There's supposed to be a Summer update too.  There's room for improvement.  How was the PS3 doing in the beginning of its life?  
Also, we don't even know if the PS4 will be much better (not going to make a comment either way, but there's really not much to go on).

Personally, I think in time the Wii U's loading times will become significantly better and more stable.

but does this close the software or supsends it into the back ground? then does it close it or does it still stay suspended (i.e. like a mobile phone app)?

Because actual closing of software will never get to instantanous, even PCs take a second or two or slighly more lol to close PC games.

Right. I agree. And thats the problem some are debating which faster, when there shouldnt be a question. No one ever wondered if N64 was truly next gen
