I'm kind of surprised the Wii U didn't do a better job initially with its OS speed. I mean the Wii had an OS, this wasn't Nintendo's first OS. I'm sure the Wii U in a few years will be very different and optimized, but I don't see MS or Sony hitting that kind of obstacle. In fact PS4 is trying to be the instant console isn't it? No wait kind of goal. We will see how that turns out. Wii U has time to improve on things but it seems their headstart wasn't put to great use, at least not to expectation.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

This is good news. Iwata said there will be another update after this one that will make it even faster.

Don't be such a Wii U hater! We all know Wii U will never get like the Vita in total sales, but it's still a decent console.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

both games are disk based now. the one before was a psn game.
Pretty much what everyone said. After April's update WiiU OS will be about as fast as PS360, two consoles that have had 7 years worth of optimization and upgrades.
Then after the summer update, WiiU will hopefully be nearly instant in transition and be what a modern electronics user expects from new hardware/OS.

XMB not changed a lot in speed with the years... it is a lot slow yet.

I wonder which PS3 they're using? I find that my new slimmer model seems to load faster than my launch PS3. Not sure if it's just placebo, but it seems that way.

yea, the PS3 is slow - vita instantenously switches to the menu
