Less attractive women: SEXISM

Women drools at attractive men on stage

**Nobody cares**

Regardless of any "context" arguments, there should never be any double standards, gender equality should be for both genders. In the name of equality and for the sake of dodging any sexism issue, men should never give women preferential treatment to women because that would mean either a reverse sexism or a positive sexism.

Looking at scantly clad women doesn't make you sexist.   Paying scantly clad women to dance on a bar at a work function when said function includes many of your female employees makes you sexist.

Keep on enjoying it.

But if there was both a scantily clad woman and a scantily clad man on stage?

No, that would mean I have the intent to be sexist or the idea of sexism in mind. That concern about even offending your fellow women based on the context of their gender would make you sexist, not the actual hiring of the dancers. You are giving your fellow female workers a preferential treatment based on their gender, that is sexist. You are imposing reverse sexism on yourself and positive discrimination based on gender on your female fellow workers. It is the same as positive racial discrimination.

And dismissing the "context" doesn't magically make a case against trying to understand social situations and how other people are affected by it, cultural baggage and all.

1) Then you really aren't looking hard enough... espiecally with women.... it happens quite a bit.  Dead Island bloody torso ring a bell for example?  The point is, plenty of things bring this back... including... what you refrenced in the OP.    Hence the outrage.

2)  No, i pretty much can say that... because yeah it has happened.  Again did you ever once feel like property or brought back to when you were a slave.  Everything you went through could and HAS happened to black people and women... with the addition of being brought back to the negatives once inflicted on them... and also still inflicted on them often in society.

3)  Again... you were being compared to other white guys right?

4)  It's not an assumption.... I mean, you did start this thread afterall.

5)  No there isn't.  Not in the same way.  If you study sociology you'll notice a there is a specific ideal woman  This doesn't exist for men.

Once again, I suggest... look at the 100 top hottest guys.  Compare that to the 100 top sexiest girls.  You'll note the guys come in many more body types, and ethnicities.

Sure some guys here or there prefer different things.... they are a minority compaired to the majority of men who have been socially groomed to like one specific type of woman.

MEANWHILE, for men, there are multiple different archtypes that have fairly evenly split devotion and no one "ideal" form that the majority of a women find attractive.

Basically if you were to take 10 guys in a room and tell them to come to an agreement on the ideal woman... they would finish rather quickly, even if someone disagreed they'd still find that woman hot.   Ask the Woman the same thing and you probably aren't getting an answer remotely soon... Vin Diesal, Justin Timberlake, George Clooney.  There will be women who find one of those 3 extremely hot, and thing the other two are awful looking.  Doesn't really happen the same very often with men.

Also the stuff i'm talking about comes from the actual field of sociology.... the scientific study of society.  This is stuff coming from the sociological perspective.  In otherwords... i'm not the one in a bubble.  Well technically EVERYBODY is in the bubble of sociology and culture which effects us in tons of ways we don't know, but the important part here is... I know what's going on at least.

As an example

https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/

If you take that test as honestly as possible your likely going to be pretty surprised.  Though possibly not since i imagine you can guess where it's headed and might hestiatie a lot more because of it.

That dead island thing is debatable, but I'll give it to you. So there's an example of women being objectified. Now you're telling me redheads aren't objectified as "carrot tops" "gingers" etc. and made fun of? How the stereotypical redhead in cartoons is always ugly, skinny as hell, and has nerd glasses on?

How about the fact that all of these "racist" and "sexist" ideas you're bringing up are all general and not targeted towards a specific person, meanwhile I have PERSONALLY been ridiculued and hated on for who I am physically my entire life? That hurts me a lot more than some stupid statue of a generic woman (ex. if it was a generic statue of a ginger). I don't care about that. I care about how I'm PERSONALLY treated.

You're basically trying to tell me that because I'm white, I can't get offended and could never be as offended as someone else. So I'm inherently different? I thought we were all equal and could all be equally hurt. Do insults take me back to the time when I was a slave? Nope.. and I don't see any other black people who could say that. History doesn't matter as much as the present. And you know what? Redheads have always been made fun of. Oh shit, now I have a history to look back on where redheads have been ridiculued. Now am I allowed to have emotions and be hurt?

Just because I didn't find this one example to be sexist, doesn't mean I don't have respect for women and am sexist. You made a huge assumption there, buddy.

Maybe the ideal man is less confined than the image of an ideal woman. I'll give you that point. But it still stands that many men love and appreciate many different forms of the female body, and vice versa. That's beside my main point, however, as I'm arguing that I can be just as hurt as a human being and just as emotionally impacted as anyone else.

And at work? I still get the ginger jokes and made fun of occasionally. Where the fuck is my equality? Oh, I'm white and male, I don't get equality. I get to sit down, shut up, and take all the hurt and insults because I apparently don't have the same emotions as women and blacks who can be discriminated against.

After all, you're claiming that's what your sociology tells you.

Dude, I agree with all your previous points regarding sexism, I have full respect to women legitimately fighting for gender equality. However, you do have to remember that gender discrimination could go both way.

Any sort of preferential treatment to someone based on their gender/race/sexual orientation etc is discrimination in my dictionary. Showing a special concern towards your workers based on their gender is sexism and not doing what you would normally have done in order to avoid "offending" someone is self discrimination.

At a buisness function?   Again your talking about something that's going to be more exclusionatory towards women then men on average, because their is more of a negative context there.

So yeah... that'd be somewhat sexist since it would be guranteed to turn off more of your women employees then your male employees, because again... context of history.

Both offended men and women would totally have a point to be offended though.  In a way it's being sexist to both groups.

Afterall, a racist guy who beleives every race has positive and negative steroetypes is still racist right?   I mean, if someone believes black people are good at sports, but dumb.  White people are natural leaders but have no rythem,  Asians are geniuses but have small penises, Hispanic people are family oriented but lazy and that Native Americans were savage but attuned to nature.

They'd still be REALLY fucking racist, and if they decided to put all of these steroetypes on Old Navy T-shirts... they'd still be really fucking racist.

(Other racists left out because i don't know there stereotypes)

That said the level of each offense can be measured by just how bad it's going to effect them.    I have no rythm... isn't going to be effecting white people on average the same as Savage would effect Native Americans.

As such, more effort should be put towards the things that hurt more people because... people only have limited energy.  Only makes seese to start "at the top" that is most damaging and move downwards once you take care of the worst ones.

Yet another example of men thinking being a feminazi will get them laid in real life, as I'm sure that the majority who complained were men.

@ Kain

Yea, let's all stop doing things that are offensive to others. Then we can all stand in one spot and do nothing. Oh wait, that would be offensive to people without legs.
