PS3 is 7 years old. 3DS is barely beating that every week. BARELY.

As smartphones and tablets continue to get more and more popular, you're going to see less of a need to own a 3DS or a Vita. It's already hard to justify a purchase. What 3DS needs is free to play games to complement the Pokemon and Mario games. Not saying Nintendo themselevs should release free games, but let others do it.

A console that has had 7 years to grow its library vs a handheld that has had 2 years.

I know you're trying to make the 3DS look bad, but you're achieving the opposite.

From 2005 to 2006 DS sales doubled from 10m per year to 20m.(The 3rd year it sold almost 30m)

From 2011 to 2012 3DS sales went from 13m per year to 14m per year.(Now in its 3rd year, sales are slowing down)

Keepi in mind that 3DS already received its huge price cut and the 3DS XL. I'm not trying to make 3DS look bad, I'm showing you the facts. The 3DS isn't selling liek hotcakes like the DS. The chances of the 3DS matching the 3rd year sales of the DS at 30m are 0%. I

I know that the 3DS will never sell like the DS did, but why is that bad? It will still be a success.

it is a success already, it hasn't even got its #1 franchise yet! Its like if X720 didn't get halo or ps4 didn't get GoW or Gran Turismo! about to be 30mil is very good especially since its up against tablets/etc!

I have some remorse, so I am off to play MH3U on my doomed console. Anyone care to join in?

I would, but I'm at my parents over easter and can only play on my 3DS. On tuesday I will be back online with MH3U on my doomed console.

To make a succinct point:

The Wii U will not have the highest lifetime sales at the end of the 8th generation because Nintendo has not strategically planned out it's first party release schedule. In addition, third party support and major exclusives will not be heading to the Wii U.

Even if you examine the indie game scene, you would see a huge difference between the selection on Nintendo Network vs Xbox Live and PSN.

So let's break this down. First party support WILL NOT BOOST the Wii U into first place over the long run.

WiiU will probably not have the highest lifetime-sales of consoles in the 8th gen. Yes. But what has it to do with this thread?

Nintendo hasn't strategically planned out first party schedule? Maybe, I don't work for NIntendo.

Major third party support will not head to the WiiU? Maybe, but that was true for the Wii, and look how that ended.

I agree on your conclusion: Nintendos first party will probably not boost WiiU into first place. But it will boost WiiU-sales, that's for sure.

Never said it isn't/won't be successful. It's already more successful than the Gamecube...

Well if it stopped selling now, no 3DS wouldn't really be that successful. But I'm expecting it to keep selling for a few more years.

Same with me as well. Even if the next 4 years it sells just 10mil units each year that'll make it have 70mil at least(it wont though). 3DS is already successful imo

To be honest I expect the 3DS and vita to sell about one third to half their predecessors, and then for this to be the last (Good) habdheld generation.

So that means:

3DS: 50 - 75 million

Vita: 25 - 40 million

3DS will get way over 50mil, its at 30mil and will get between 42-47mil by years end. Then you include 4 more years anyway predict here... You still haven't! (Dont be afraid to now >_<) http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=157842
