Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Battlefield 4 skipping Wii U

TheLastStarFighter said:
This is a game that Wii U could use, but it's not surprising givin that it's an EA title. It's a second-tier franchise, but a solid one. Wii U mostly needs the top tiers: GTA, CoD, AC, WD, FF, RE, the big namers. If those come - and about 50% are - the rest will follow eventually. But Battlefield would be better than Deus Ex, that's for sure.

Battlefield 4 will likely outsell all the games on that list other than GTA and CoD.  So how is it a second tier franchise and FF and RE are somehow still top tier?

This sucks for the gamers, which is why I recommend Wii U owners to buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Show devs that you care about multiplats. The main reason you never see multiplats on Nintendo consoles is because comsumers only buy them for the first party exclusives.

Wii U owners, if you really want this game, show it, show Nintendo you want multiplats. Sign petitions, do what ever it take to get the word out. I may not be the biggest Nintendo fan, but I don't want to see Nintendo to be ignore like this.

I am interested in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but there is no way I'd pay more that $25 for it. They shouldn't be charging $50 for a game that I could get for $5 during a steam sale.

I cant believe you would do $25. It MSRPs on other consoles for $20($15 at Amazon) and regularly be found for $10 on consoles. The DLC can be had for $5 on sale regularly. Comparing buying a port of 2 year old game to new multiplats is not a good comparison. Buying Dues Ex shows that Wii U gamers want old ports, which I do not think we want.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

This is actually very concerning. Although we already knew EA is a horrible company and won't support Nintendo with certain games, I didn't expect a big game like this to skip Wii U. Let's hope the same won't happen with other next-gen games. Ubisoft already does a great job with Watch Dogs on Wii U.

You just aroused a thought in me. I wonder how long that will be since a lot of Nintendo gamers intend to avoid the new Rayman game. If true it would not bode well.

Im pretty sure there will something happen.
People won't buy the new Rayman and will vote down the crap out of it with hate messages on MetaCritic
At the end i can imagine Ubisoft will say "Oh yeah?Have fun with no games!"

Funny how all these types of threads are posted by a Sony fan ;)

Doesn't matter who is posting it.
In the end it is mostly a "Fuck you EA" even if the people don't understand shit and think EA or any Publisher has to give stuff away for free.

Let's think about it.
Battlefield 4 looks amazing. It is even a much bigger step compared to Battlefield 3 and no one would have thought this.
I don't want to imagine the Multiplayer and how intense it will get
The PS360 Version of BF3 didn't even touch the PC Version in any way...Its like they were 2 different games.

Random Guy : But the PS360 are much weaker than the WiiU and the WiiU is true NextGen and can come close to the PC Version of BF4.
Much?No - Its only a little bit ahead of the PS360 in terms of power- But were it doesn't come close you ask?A combined number of 150+ Million sold consoles where a lot of people are into shooters.
It is a safe bet BF4 on PS360 will sell more than 10 Million Units combined - More units than the complete WiiU Community even has and probably will have till the end of the year.
EA isn't stupid - They look in how much effort they have to put in...or rather how much they are willing to finance DICE to get as much out of it as possible.
Look at Black Ops 2 - It sold like SHIT on the WiiU...A CALL OF DUTY on a home console actually managed to sell nearly NOTHING.
No one ever could have imagined this.
CALL OF DUTY didn't sell anything on the WiiU - Why does someone think the WiiU Version of Battlefield 4 would sell at all compared to the effort they have to put in to port it over?
Stop dreaming - EA and Publishers in general aren't the salvation Army

Random Guy : But we didn't see the PS4NextBox announcement...

Im pretty sure we will something about that on the E3 or earlier.
DICE twittert shortly after the PS4 announcement they are more exited than ever to work on that baby
I can imagine they hold it back for a really big announcement to show the real BF4 to a big audience...The interesting part will be if the new consoles can run it close to the PC Version in Multiplayer.64 Players,Big maps and all that stuff.
Maybe either Sony or Microsoft talked about some bonus with EA - Both surely want to secure as much as possible to show how good their console will be.
You can't do that with CoD - Who will care for the NextBox if they show a new CoD?Oh wow another copy+paste CoD with an Engine from 1999...Im totally convinced to buy a new NEXT GEN Console for something every smartphone can max out...yeeeeah

No you want something like Battlefield 4 with such an insanely big Multiplayer full of action,a new updated engine and everything else.
Cause Battlefield 4 will show how much the difference is between PS360 and PS4NextBox especially cause most console people don't know how BF3 on PC already looks. They know the crap console version and that isn't really worth talking over.

you seem to know everything about the Wii U that you can conclude is on par with other 6 years consoles.

Battlefield is the "me too" to CoD. It's the Sonic to Mario, the Rock Band to Guitar Hero. It's a big seller, but second fiddle in the war shooters category. It's a significant absence for Wii U, no question, but the titles the system needs are the ones I listed. If CoD is on Wii U and sells millions (not a couple 100k) then Battlefield will follow. It's tough for the also-rans on a Nintendo console. Consumers this fall will pick up Zelda, MarioU and MarioKartU. After that Watch_Dogs, AC4 and CoD will battle for interest. When the world's biggest shooter is relegated to 2nd level interest because of a flagship Mario, the second-place shooter becomes an afterthought.

Man the EA support for Wii U is almost as bad as the Capcom support for the Vita.

Now you're overexaggerating. WiiU got NFS and that is a decent port.

Yeah and Vita got street fighter and marvel....

Didn't the Wii U also get Fifa? they are literally equal.

well i dont think you can call fifa a game on Wii U, rebadged FIFA 2012  to FIFA2013 that is hwo bad this port is.

NFS on the other hand was probably already 99% finished so they let it go.

As for the topic at hand, no one is surpised since EA prtty much said no more "unprecident support"

Also no surpise Turkish posted this thread.

Wasn't Crysis 3 also pretty much done on the Wii U when EA canclled it?

I have to say that I rather want Battlefield than COD, but my autumn/winter is full with AC4, Watch dogs, Pokemon X and Y and the other nintendo games anyway, so I'm not really too dissapointed. Nontheless, I would like to get this game with gamepad only play.

i try to be honest. Nintendo really needs games like this for pr. but for me personally Battlefield is one of those games you should play on pc. cause you need some actuall aiming skill to shoot people.

I would pay $25 at most because of all of the features and improvements that they added to the port.

Add me! :)

Anyone is surprised by this after the best version of BO2 on consoles did so horribly on Wii U despite having the most features?

As much as I don't really like EA and neither do I care for BF as a series, I can't in this case blame EA. If someone tries to sell a product at a certain market and no one buys it, then common sense would dictate that you move on to a different market with a different target audience. I don't think this has to necessarily be due to Nintendo and EA's beef with each other over Origin (I could be but doubt it). Nintendo gamers have proven time and time again that they buy Nintendo consoles mainly for 1st party content, so 3rd parties just don't feel like they belong there. I don't know how or why or when the perception of the consumer changed to a state where they ONLY want to buy Nintendo games on Nintendo consoles, but that's just how it is.

The news goes from bad to worse for the Wii U.
