What do you think this game will be like?

My early guesses:

-Called Super Mario Universe.

-It will flow from Super Mario Galaxy, but have new themes and styles.  Worlds will use impressive visuals and lighting.  If it involves world jumping, there will be impressive suns and light sources.

-I expect larger worlds with lots of depth.

-It may harken back to Mario 64.  Perhaps a mushroom kingdom setting, but with gateways that take you around the universe to fully flushed out worlds to explore. Not likely small planetoids.

-It will have multiplayer.  In keeping with the year of Luigi, and the 30th aniversery of Mario bros, Luigi will be playable using the Gamepad for a second screen.  This will be a major focus of the game.

-In connection with the above point, the game may be titled Super Mario Bros. Galaxy, Super Mario Bros Universe or Super Mario Bros 4 (or 5, it should be 5, but they may ignore Mario World's Japanese title. SuperMario4.com was snapped up last year).

Your thoughts?

if i had to guess. it will be like a mario game and mario is the main character. but thats just a guess

The thing about 3D Mario games, you never have any idea.

Who knew that Mario64 would turn into Sunshine.

And Galaxy gravity stuff from squirt gun mechanics.

Even tho Galaxy 1&2 were my fav in the series, I just hope it has a more open-world feel like 64 and sunshine had

I think it will be closer to Mario sunshine in terms of the perspective/view. Closer camera showing of the crazy graphics!

How much you guys want to make a bet it'll have Co op like the NSMB series? I mean NSMB WII made a huge impact! Why not a true 3D mario game? Maube either 3 or 5 players (mario having the gamepad others support)? Mario Luigi "New Brother"(jus saying since Miyamoto kinda foreshadowing lol) and the blue+yellow toad!

I'm thinking the next mario will utilize the gamepad alot. Maybe the game will switch between the tablet and gamepad like if you go into a pipe, you control mario on the gamepad perhaps with a touch mechanic

They really only make sequels or use the same game mechanics when they didn't get all of their ideas out in the original game. If they stuck with the Galaxy concept, Mario U could have been ready at launch considering the gap. It might still be called Universe, but maybe instead of Galaxy-like world play, it goes into different dimensions/Universes with the gamepad displaying an alternate perspective or something like that.

I do agree that the "Year of Luigi" was possibly a hint at making the new Mario multiplayer. I could see them making Luigi a playable character for the 2nd player along the lines of the original SMB, but working in tandem. Of course, the game would be playable single player and without Luigi (or Mario), but there might be stars or something that are only accessible with the second player.

An open world Mushroom Kingdom would be amazing, and like 64.....there could be portals or something to trigger the alternate Universes. Dark world, paper world, doll world, normal, realism etc.

One thing is for sure, it will the most visually impressive Wii U game to date, much like Galaxy was for the Wii. E3 is gonna be awesome.
