Forums - Sony - Why I Love PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale More Than Super Smash Bros.

Played it for the first time in a Best Buy in the US on both Vita and PS3. It was okay but not nearly as good as Smash Bros.

Smash's battle system is so much more coherent, fleshed out, flexible, and deep that it's kind of silly to compare them. But hey, if people legitimately like it more, than good for them. There's also people in this world who like the Spice Girls better than the Beatles. No accounting for taste.

don't worry dude i agree

this game along with modnation kind of kills any anticipation i'd have for another nintendo console

why get smash or kart when i enjoy this and modnation more

edit: now that i think on it that still leaves zelda but i'm not buying a whole console for one game

We are all very shocked that you feel that way.

are you still butthurt that i don't love nintendo as much as you? get over it buddy honestly this is sad i thought you were over it by now

i'm still kind of weirded out about your stalking

Sorry to dissapoint you, but I don't 'love' companies.

Maybe someday I'll be able to feel about Nintendo, they way you feel about Sony.

Maybe...but I doubt it.

This thread was made 4 months too late. The verdict, and sales, are in.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

what bothers me, is how did that horrible Alien Colonial marines game beat Playstation allstars in sales.

i think playstation all stars had a good attempt at first go and was crazily ove hyped and sales predictions. But sadly it will never live up to smash in sales and game quality.

The PS3 has a base into FPS, and also others who like the Aliens franchise.  Those into Smash Bros. own a Nintendo platform, and didn't see reasons to switch.  End result is you will get the Alien game outselling All-Stars.  It stumps me why people think All-Stars would sell millions on a platform without a lot of people who are into Smash Bros. type games.   What needs to be asked here is: Why would anyone into Smash Bros. want to switch to All-Stars?

the ps3 has a base that likes fighting games why not release a fighting game with some of the characters that have been exclusive to playstation?

i don 't know what kind of weird logic you're trying to use there but i can understand what the developers were thinking

The Smash Bros. format is an entirely different animal than other fighting games.  I didn't think it is about the idea of having a mashup brawler, just that Smash Bros. was the format chosen for All-Stars, not something else.  The Smash Bros. format has origins in the 16 bit era.  I guess the only way to get any project green lit is to go, "Wow, look at THAT format sells on console X.  We need our own".   I understand the logic why it got greenlit.  However, no one seemed to stop and think about a bigger picture here at all.

if you prefer smash's system then fine but characters in all stars have larger movesets and actual combos so i don't see where you're going with flexibilty and depth honestly

lol so to avoid a ban you insult the op in spanish

i really don't get the intolerance to people that may like this game from some nintendo fans they act like if its a personnal insult or something lol

Movesets are mostly equivalent between both games, the ring out mechanic adds a lot to Brawl like edge guarding, direction influence, momentum cancelling, recovery, spikes. Then there's other mechanics like stale move negation that are designed so fighters don't spam the same move all the time.
