Can't you get all that for under $1000?

I think to make a good PC for gaming with better performance than PS4 you will need at least $1000.

PS. Most article I saw comparing PS4 and PC forget the case, motherboard, HDD, fans, cooler, windows (Linux have no gamez), joystick, etc...

Damn, I didn't realize the GTX 680 was that expensive. I guess the one I saw for $400 must've actually been on sale.

Windows 8 is $90 from Tiger Direct, btw. There's the cost of the PSU as well... I dunno how many extra case fans you need for a 680, but, from what I've seen, they're pretty cheap($9). Cases practically always seem to be on sale, too, and a wired 360 controller will set you back around $20. 

$1000 isn't all that much to spend for a quality PC, imo.

Outdated thinking. Your idea was true when consoles basically ONLY played games. Consoles are getting more like PC's in that they perform many functions and have a larger OS running in the background. The hardware has to perform so many more tasks nowadays, so that console performance leap from lower specs just ain't gonna happen like it did in the good old days, when consoles JUST played games. Yes there is a performance boost, but it's getting smaller and smaller.

The most cheaper GTX 680 I found in www.newegg.com was $460... the avg is $500.

I think you can make a PC with $800 to show to tie with PS4 but to go over that it needed to spend a a little more... so over $1000 is just a just a way to say.

I guess, if gaming is your main concern, then consoles do offer the best value, for now. If you wanna do other stuff, though,(and you don't already have a capable system) getting a high-end PC instead is the way to go. And, of course, there're the indie games, mods, and the promise of Half-life 3. Easily worth the extra $500+ dollars. ;)

yes a pc is more expensive but i can use it for other stuff as well which means i have no problem to pay more for a pc as for a console. it would be a bad joke if a console would cost as much as a pc with same capabilities in gaming. and i seriously know no one who doesn't use his gaming pc for other stuff as well.

then we should build a gaming pc on the day of ps4 release and not 9 months earlier. why should i compare today's pc price with a future price of something else? sure, prices won't change too much but they will change.

if we just talk about the games available on a console and pc, i have to pay less for the game on pc. if i buy 20 multi-plat games on pc instead of console in the next 5 years, i have already spent minimum 300 euro less because of the lower price. not to talk about some totally different genres which are just better on pc.

but what i don't really understand, console gamers complain so much about pc guys comparing pc with console but they do that as well all the time if they think their console looks good in the comparison^^

everyone just has to agree that pc+console is the best

funny that you pay so much for electronics and graphics are that important for you (at least it seems like that when you talk about ps4) but you won't build a gaming rig and probably didn't have one the last years even with games on console with only 720p and 30fps.

I don't get why you would compare them anyway and it's getting pretty annoying to be honest
