Forums - Gaming - You Can't Build A PS4: Why Sony's Next Console Is Truly Next-Gen And Your PC Isn't

Well my PC uses hardware noone can get for the ps4 either so what?

sorry but pc was ahead of Ps4 in 2010 lol Just look at this f*ckin turtle! haha Seriosly i could pull up tons of photo realistic stuff for PC gaming though. Consoles have a long way to go. Maybe by 2024 they will have caught up.

To have the same perforamance than PS4 you will need a Intel Core i5/i7 + 8GB RAM + GTX 680/HD 7970... anything below that will have less performance than a PS4 IMO.

I think your a BIT high on your expectations there graphics card wise.  Trash just bought a 7970 because it would comfortably outpower the PS4 for the generation meaning he won't have to further upgrade for shared PC/console games.

It's not the be all end all but it's worth noting the 7970 pushes far more then that.

That is nice and all but...

A  4.5 Teraflop GPU.  Crysis 2 Max specs at 110fps on a single chip card?  Tyvm

This is why PC's are always ahead. Simple Moores Law.

The HT 7970 have almost twice the raw power than PS4 GPU but the consoles optimization here will put the overall performance close... there consoles are created to use near 100% of the raw power... PC can't use more than 60%.

Can you build an exact PS4, no, but I built a computer that is more powerful then what the PS4 will end up being. Anyone who thinks that the PS4 is more power than anything you can build in a pc is very naive.

That's not entirely true anymore. Newer consoles have more overhead than they ever had. While the software can still be better optimized, they wont use 100% power (capability) for any game. Anyone who says differently really doesn't know.

GAFs are saying both consoles will delivery close to 100% GPU utilization... the addicional 6 queued pipelines and 6 ACEs in PS4 GPU have this pourpose (HD 7970 have 2 of both... the PS4 GPU have 8 of both)... Microsoft showed closed room a graph with the Nextbox using close 100% the GPU raw power too (the 360 uses only 60%).

There is no overhead in consoles this gen... at least in GPU.

interesting read. what ever, i just want the games.

I will have to agree with everything in this article 100 percent.
