Wouldn't "nobody knows about it" kinda prove that it doesn't? I mean, there is no excuse that they don't know about it. It's been advertised and in news. It's been in stores for months and every store except walmart puts out weekly ads and target puts the consoles and games in every one

No. I know a lot of people that know what a playstation 3 is, but they don't care about gaming at all. Sadly, people are stupid. Also, those advertisements showed almost nothing of the console itself, only people holding the gamepad in different angles with dubstep music in the background.

You have to ignore a whole lot for your theory to even make sense. The reality of the situation is these people have probably been exposed to the Wii U already but it doesn't grab their attention so they don't dedicate it to memory.

That might be so, but there are almost no games on the wii u for that demographic yet. Why would it catch their attention?

Well, they said they want the "Core" audience again and that's what they made the Wii U for. Good idea? No. But they seem to think it is. I chose the "maybe" option because that one best fit what I thought.

Nope, they said they wanted both audiences. They noticed they repelled the core audience away with the Wii so they tried to get both audiences with the Wii U audience and tried to expand the market to lure in tablet and cellphone casuals. It was a huge risk and it did not pay off, especially since their graphics will be far behind the competition when the PS4 and 720 (or Infinity) come out. Casuals aren't going to come in droves back to Nintendo and buy a nunchuck already just for a Wii fit U. They only cared about the Nunchuck/Board gimmick. Microsoft is going to get that crowd with the Kinect, because its essentially a step up to the Kinect, so they can relate to it and it will still be the centerpiece of the living room.

Oh you think so? How can you expect the casual audience to buy the wiiU when they have no clue what it is in the first place. I can tell you that, I've showed and let played 8 friends of mine (which 5 of them were girls and they were all casual facebook people), and they all wanted a wiiU after playing it. The wiiU definetly has the potential to be a huge success, they just need to make that casual market what it really is and that it's a wii2 not a wii add-on.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

We'll see how it works out for Nintendo. As long as they offer casual games they will get the casuals.

well considering Just Dance 4 is WIi Us 7th best selling title, the casuals are still there. Just not enough know about the existence of Wii U.

The Wii U doesn't have enough casual titles ATM. (only Mario/Land...) wait a little more for games like Wii Fit U, party games etc along with respective TV ads.. Also, a 50$ dropped would help. Casuals are simply waiting, they aren't going anywhere else as I don't see them buying a 500$ console.
Wii U has been out for 4 months, you can't judge a console that quickly, especially when you know the 2 upcoming consoles will mostly focus on graphics and so said ''hardcore players''. No casual want to shove that much money just to play Zumba with more pixels!

Ok sure...they need a gimmick that the casuals havent tried yet. The Wii U is a more complex gaming tablet with intergrated features. Casuals want simple, then they want games. The Wii gave them that and Nintendo made that a secondary option instead of making the Wii U the Wii HD.

Just from my experience ... I had many casual friends buy the Wii who normally wouldn't buy a video game console, but this time around none of them are interested in Wii U.

iOS/Android has just changed the consumer electronics radically. The impact of that is like the impact of Batman/Joker to Gotham City ... nothing is the same afterwards.

The thing with casuals is they want a "new fad", they gradually get tired of something no matter how popular it is and want something new, they are not like core players who want Halo/Mario/Uncharted/Pokemon/Zelda/etc. over and over and over again with a token new IP in there now and again.

Wii Sports/Fit and Guitar Hero is yesterday's news to them. Angry Birds and Minecraft and Just Dance is where its at today.

The last wii sports game came out in 2009. I think that we have to waait to see when the games come out.

Who cares???

nintendo lost the casuals, that's simple fact just looking as current sales.

..but forever isn't right. casuals are, practically be definition, fickle consumers. they are lost for now but if nintendo comes up with the next great thing they could come back. easy come, easy go, easy come again so to speak.
