i feel the same way, somehow they managed to make us pay for something (live) making us beleive that it was not available in any other console. In microsoft defense i would say that they were the first ones to offer this service in a very useful way, but the fact that they started rising prices was plain insulting.


yeah cause getting hacked and being down for a month is the better way. not to mention inferior everything online. la time i checked there are many psn games that still dont have any voice chat even though they have online component. also some games like mortal kombat 2 dont allow you to have a private match with people on your friends list... random matchmaking only. this kind of stuff is rediculous for an xbox live user

i like the fact xbox live costs money. people are less likely to screw around' cheat, hack and team kill when they are paying money to have an account. also skill based matchmaking doesnt work if accounts are free...

look at me, im level gazillion in this fps game and i feel like killing some newbs for a day, ill just open a free account and demolish everyone i get paired up and then go to my regular account tommorow... no thanks

Any company can get hacked i was not sonys fault it was the hackers fault.

the mortal kombat problem is not psn fault is the developers.

The most hacked console in the market is the xbox 360 that is fact. check for yourself i don feel like finding a source for the obvious...

I play Halo, and even in xbox 360 people open new accounts to kill newbz specially when you dont want to pay for your xbox live and use a new account of the three free accounts that an xbox has when you buy it.(i did that once free live for a month!:P)

this is very true. I remember reading about all the hackers messing up Halo in the early years of the system. Its a byproduct of making your hardware too "easy". One of my fears for the PS4 actually. The more abnormal the architecture, the less likely it is to get hacked. its why the PS3 lasted so long before it was finally broken.

And the "HACK" is such a non issue. Yea we couldn't play online for a month, thats what SP games are for, and PS3 has plenty of really good ones. Not to mention they shut the server down to protect our info and make sure the hackers didn't get any. All the stuff about changing passwords etc was just a extra safety precaution.

would also add that upon Gears 2 release, Live shut down for almost a month for many.

Just what MS did to us JRPG fans is enough for me to want to pass them up next generation. They released a whole bunch and then just dropped us like a rock.

I'll most likely be sticking with Sony and Nintendo again next gen even if the Xbox brand is so overwhelmingly popular here in America.

ps2 was just as flawed but with out social media and also without a extended warranty. MS did everything right but you seem to have forgot ps2, so why should we be mad about this if it was handled way better.

PS2 was no where near as bad and you are dilusional if you think so. Online gaming wasn't even a thing really yet when PS2 came out. The general console gaming public still wasn't even sure if it was something they wanted yet. 

Your using a % from later years. 360 is not at 40% anymore either and if you looked at it today it would be about the same as the ps2.

Im not saying RROD is still an issue(for anyone with the new consoles that is, which almost all 360 owners bought to evade more RROD). Yet it was an issue that should have never existed. That is a huge percentage of hardware failure that is honestly shameful. It could have been entirely evaded according to MS engineers but MS chose to ignore the issue in hopes of b esting Sony. Its not like I'm making this up or twisting it, that is what happened.

I'm glad someone mentioned it. I always chuckled when obvious Sony fanboys brought up RROD. Sony had DRE issues on both PS1 and PS2. They, til this day, deny there was any issue. However they quickly settled the class action lawsuit over it.

I don't trust M$ but the sad thing is I don't even trust Sony more. I'm happy that one of the three I still trust and love.

Nope.avi. I've owned both microsoft consoles and believe I've been robbed to hell think about it for the past few months. Even WITH the aid of warranty...TWICE.

once again, PS2 failure rate was within the normal means of hardware (which I believe is 10% standardly), Sony got sued for it simply because of the shear number of people who had PS2s, which made the number of malfunctions seem worse than it was. 360 is pushing no less than 33% and possibly past 50% before they finally  issued the remodel and slim.

somehow i can understand the hate towards microsoft this gen, maybe hardcore xbox fans dont, but thats cause they are looking at it as a console and not a corporation. Most of this gen problems were not caused by the existence of consoles but for the way corporations decided to do business. Paying for time exclusives is one of the things that will always be wrong no matter if it was Sony or Microsoft. This means that if a company like apple (which is the top corporation in the world right now) comes throwing money around they can easily steal the gaming market.

In the end this is our fault, cause we have approved this corporative tactics by buying their products. The future of gaming resides on our hands, it is our duty to tell this corporations that we don't want their money winning generations... that we want their games.
