Not really a taste of their own medicine if no other next gen system does it. We'll see though. Gaikai may very well offer some way to have the system be BC through emulation.

This whole thread I was under the impression that Sony was going to make people re-buy their games again. The above quote just makes it seems like current gen PSN games are not going to be on the market at first. While that isn't that great, its not as bad as I thought.

Their own fault for going with the Cell to begin with. Really screwed them over in the long term.

I haven't bought much from PSN except 2 of the best games on PS3, Stardust HD and WipeOut, but i haven't played either in a while. But this is surely no different to now as I can't play PS2 games on my PS3.

Although this whole cloud thing does concern me, I own a fair few PS1 and PS2 games in disc form, I'd prefer not to have to buy them again just to play them on PS4. PS1 emulation is probably easy though, so no worries about playing them, I'm sure.

If this happens to MS and new Xbox then I'm seriously thinking of quitting next gen...

You serious? IBM created the Xenon for MS. Graphics was from ATi.

This is the cost of SONY moving to a development friendly system. PS3 won't be emulated. Those games on PSN are PS4 games, of course. Gaikai is the solution, as said in the conference.

and people complained about Nintendo charging 99cents to redownload games you own on Wii for the privilege to play them on the pad.

Wow, that is pretty terrible. Retail/full size ps3 games are kind of understandable because of the hardware change. No PSN games though is a real killer. I thought the whole point of having digital purchases tied to your account was so that you could have those purchases available for future use?

At least with the Vita you can play the digital psp games you've purchased. This makes me wary of ever buying anything off of PSN though. If MS does the same, then I won't buy anything off of XBLA either.

i could not care less... when i buy games they say for what console they are, i don't expect them to work anywhere else...
have those kinds of expectations is wrong... (would be right if they say "this SW is licensed to use in XXX console and future devices" BUT IT DOES NOT)
i want new consoles to be a evolution from previous... if we keep living in past, things don't evolve that much...
