it sucks, but I was planning on keeping my PS3's and most of my PSN games came via PS+ so no skin off my bones, i'm sure will optimize PSN games of old to work with the PS4, hopefully if you have already purchased them you'll just be able to re-download them or Sony offers them for cheap

who know;Sony can enable this through an update it took some time for the vita to play PS1 games and took even longer for PS2 games to show up on non-BC PS3

MS better not copy this. Really if they come up with this shit aswell I am finished with console gaming. Then I am going whole they way IOs for sure.

Yep this lack of digital BC in a more permanent way is why Android and iOS entrace to gaming will dominate. Your software almost always goes with you forever on new devices independent of the hardware underneath.

So.... Wii to WiiU is the only one doing BC?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Its arguable that MS won't be doing it either as their base architecture changed dramatically as well. (IBM to x86)

So glad I was able to copy 100% of my Wii content to my WiiU. :p

Yep. The Wii U transfer was clunky as all hell, but at least it extisted.

If Sony offers Gaikai upgrades of PSN games for a dollar, then this won't suck so bad... assuming Gaikai works well.

And the region code? Still as free as Vita and PS3 are?

If you count limited BC as BC then ps4 will have it as well, in cloud form. PS3, PS2, PS1 included.

I am curious, Can Wii U play gamecube games?

via Virtual Console at some point, yes. Difference is game is downloaded to console and not dependent on internet connect. See Onlive for where I'm headed with this...

Since when does the 360 run on IBM achitecture.  IBM created the Cell for the PS3.  The 360 runs on AMD/ATI architecture.

The CPU is an IBM processor. Where have you been? NOW its moving to an entirely AMD setup, but its still a big change with completely different CPU architecture.
