I like it!
Holy shit. Fuck those analog sticks. Xbox has nice triggers that's about it. I don't want concave controllers but if it's going to happen at least copy how Nintendo does it with their nunchuck.
the move light on the top of the controller along with the 2 cameras on the dev system could be used create a 3d effect by moving the controller. imagine an additional in game camera the changes the perspective when you move the controller a little bit, like you're looking into a window.

Now I get what you're saying...ok, from the reflection of that initial pic, made me think the PS4 controller had a touchscreen. The new pic does make it look like a trackpad. But honestly, that's worse IMO, I was HOPING the PS4 had a touchscreen, for things like play calling in Madden games, where it would also help unified development so there are no excuses about things being left out in different platforms, not making a Wii U version, etc.

PS4 does have a touchscreen controller. It's called a Vita. But touchscreens are expensive so this doesn't force that cost upon new console customers. It leaves touchscreen in the optional category, but since there is a console with a dedicated touchscreen controller, devs will already have the experience and the code to implement asynchronous into their games.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

There are pros and cons to both approaches (touch vs track) In this case it would be a much much cheaper addition to the controller while giving some new input methods. I am perfectly ok with that.
And when talking to an employee of evolution studios he said that a trackpad won't be something that gets in the way of normal controls but a complimenting input method to use in addition..as in you won't have to use both analog sticks and the screen at the same time for example. Mind you he didn't confirm the final controller having a track pad :P but I think it was a big hint
about the shiny bit yea we have many such trackpads that are glossy/shiny in nature. iirc even Ouya has one

Well it can do what you can't do with the WiiU tablet.
Multitouch.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Here's exactly what I'm imagining. Based on the dev kit and controller we could see this possible in every game as default with no sacrifice to traditional control methods.

How is it people are not more excited for this! It significantly enhances your immersion in the game world and offers a very cool 3d effect with no need for 3d glasses or tv!
Even better imagine it used in tandem with 3d glasses and you have a 'holgraphic effect' which was eluded to by a sony exec more than a year ago (can't find article)
