Didn't know people still used 1st world, third world ect. Is there a second world? Never heard of that. I thought poeple just essentially said now "developed country or not" Not sure what qualifies as developed, but I'm not doubting Americans aren't arogant, but isn't almost every country in a way arogant. I mean what good is your country if you don't believe you are the best? I would hope that every country believes they are #1. |
There's technically a definition of "Second World Countries" it usually refers to former communist-socialist countries (Russia, Eastern Europe, etc), but it's more like a theoretical definition more than a practical one.
When combining these "world" definitions they not necessarily refer to economic value alone, but political, social and cultural value. Even though I hate the term Third World Country this one refers to countries that can have a capitalist government but have a decent percentage of poverty, communist government that are rich or absolute monarchies (So a lot of aspect need to be taken into consideration).
There's also a new term called Fourth World Country, but that is rarely use and refers to indigenous peoples living within or across state boundaries.
