Forums - Gaming - NEXT GEN GAMING: We need to grow up.

I'm with you in that I don't think it would effect my experience that much (or at all since I always buy new to support devs), but I still think it is wrong for a console manufacturer to do.  I'm gonna buy the next playstation because of the awesome games that I know will come with that first party stable, but if they do this then it'll be a slap in the face to so many people they may be forced out of gaming.  Same deal with MS.

True, true, it will be very interesting to see, because I really think most of us are to addicted to quit gaming.

There are plenty of reasons for BC:
1. People trade in the previous console to pay the new one.
2. People didn't own the previous console, but want to enrich the game-library through BC.
3. People that don't want to plug gazillion of devices into their TV and switch between them, only because they feel like playing another game.

Look at it: BC is an added value. For some people - like the author of the article - it is not much value, but for others it holds more value. This value will be counted into the decision to purchase a console or not. So basically manufacturers that leave BC out hurt themself. In which degree is debatable, but the value of the device they offer is lower than with BC included.

haha yeah I have other hobbies but there would be huge gap in my schedule without gaming.  Although I've hardly played anything from before PSone and N64 so Virtual console could keep me going lol.  Honestly this gen is looking promising though.  I'll pick up a PS4 at launch and enjoy all the new IPs and returning ones I know Sony will make as well as Rockstar, Rocksteady, Bethesda, and Konami games that come out on it.  Then I'll pick up a WiiU once it's down in price and has all the 3d Mario, SSB, DKC (hopefully since it skipped a couple gens before), Starfox (hopefully), and Zelda I can handle.  May even get a 3DS at some point almost exclusively for Pokemon, but also for SM3DL and the first original Zelda that comes out for it.

exactly why I don't get why multiple SKUs or attachments are available already for it.  I can only hope that Sony has a SKU or attachment for it this upcoming gen because like you said I want to sell my PS3 (probably get around $200 on ebay since it's a 500gb HDD now) and not have to plug in multiple devices and switch HDMI inputs all the time as Sony normally supports their systems a lot.  I just hope they have a lot of storage and/or allow any HDD in PS4 because I've already used around 300gb of that and while I plan to buy as much physical as possible, PS+ will continue to eat up that space lol

BC is a great value add especially in it's first year when the library is small but of the important things a console can offer it is probably down around the 5th or 6th position.

You can't even vote with your wallet anymore (DmC bombed), people will call you an entitled, whiner and hater.

Saying pre owned games should be banned is insane. Every single other industry in the world does pre owned.

You can go buy pre owned cars
You can go buy pre owned movies
You can go buy pre owned cds
You can buy pre owned clothes
You can buy pre owned electronics like tvs, consoles, blu ray players etc.

In fact you can buy nearly anything in the world pre owned. If console manufacturers go this route then its as anti consumer as it gets and one of the most anti consumer things ever done in any industry

Lets not forget a pre owned wife

DAMN

True, but if they incorporate this on the next gen beasts to avoid costs rising and bankrupcy, and IF, and again, ONLY IF, the games are mind blowing amazing, them I don´t care that much. Whatever it takes to have the best experience.

I am not saying it has to be like that, I am just saying that it will not be the crucial aspect to me, the real crucial thing will be: ARE THE GAMES AMAZING OR NOT?

or they could lower the price of software by 50% so more people can afford it.

i.e lok at the movie industry HUGE budgets but if it is a great moving the $10 tickets make up more than enough.

The industry as a whole should work towards further distributing their consoles and games to the developing countries. I would not mind if they paid less than us as long as it helped us gamers get better games.

What free stuff is he referring to? Backwards compatibility and used games aren't free.

Yeah, Rocksteady in special is one that makes me very interested, their two Arkhan games were so amazing, I wonder what other tricks they got.

Also, Fallout 3 was incredible, maybe Bethesda could do a even better Fallout 4 with the right hardware, we will see. Soon.
