But how many people actually utilise backwards compatibilty? I for one wanted the PS2 to have it years ago, but what happened? I never used it as I just played the better sequels or forgot about the old games as I was playing newer, better games.

I use/used it in the first couple years of PS2 and PS3 so I would like the first models to have it.  Once the new system has a decent library I don't mind them cutting it out.

So why not keep your old system, and as the new model has less features, it should cost less to buy? I would rather that then pay for a feature that I and many people would not use often/enough to warrant the cost.

I want backwards compatibility on the PS4 cause theres some games on the PS3 that came out and i'd like to have. But, i dont want to waste 250 euros buying a console with no future. I would rather put that money into buying the PS4. It would be better for me the consumer and for Sony cause i would be buying more products from them in the future.

Backwards compatibility and used games are great incentives that break price barriers to aquire new consoles and further game sales. There is nothing childish about it.

Someone noticed that a lot of the people complaining don't have a wage...Well that's why they are complaining.

The issue is that too many gamers think their opinion matters when they haven't thought about why it should. If you're not educated or employed - why should it? That's not an ad hominem; that's a logical conclusion.
The people who matter ultimately are the consumers with plenty of expendable income rather than the ones who rely on presents. I blame the new wave of entitled teens thinking the world owes them. We just need to learn to ignore them.

It's unlikely that the 720 will have backwards compatibility and it would be near impossible for the PS4 to have it. I'm keeping my PS3 and 360, so I won't be bothered.
