Forums - Gaming - Iwata: Cloud gaming not the future

I have zero interest in cloud games, Microsoft just recently ran into a problem with cloud saves. What if the same happened with your games? I still believe retail is the best way to buy games since there's no chance of loss due to some error and you 100% own them physically. Digital is too only attractive to me in the form of something like PS+ or Steam.

Lol Iwata. He will eat those words once Gaikai can stream 1080p games on PS4. It will become a huge part of next gen.

He also said he didn't like the current online platforms or something, thats why WiiU lacks achieve/trophy system.

If such a technology works well it will benefit the Wii U most, since it would make the graphics difference moot. Other companies will provide similar types of streaming easily enough.

Just like online gaming wasn't the future right? Just the man for the job!

He said this in 2004.And now Nintendo is trying to catch up with the competitors hoping to find an interresting online feature to make Wii U online unique as their online service is still louse compared with msony.

If he is wrong again it could be very interessting to see what will happen,as nintendos main territory is cheap affordable hardware and a streaming box is the cheapest gaming hardware ever.

That's right! He's the man who propelled Nintendo to the top sales-wise last gen!

I totally agree.

Cloud services are temporary services that can be closed at any time. In short, you dont really own anything with it. They are renting services.
Its definitly something i will not pursue. I enjoy owning my games and consoles so i can one day play them again if i feel like it.

Wasn't he the president since the GameCube days?

I'm sorry I totally forgot that you got a small percentage of every sale they made. None of that matters to me.
