Very disappointing. Lost a lot of respect for Visceral games for turning this franchise into another generic shooter.

This has EA written all over it. *cough* Mass Effect *cough*

mass effect 1 was always a shooter rpg but improved a lot in mass effect 2 and 3 IMO. mass effect 1 was lame in terms of shooter

The RPG customization elements were dumbed down in part two for a more action oriented approach. That trickled into ME3.

Mr. Miyamoto said it, good games take time.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

german gamepro gave 84, i got the magazine today. they gave dead space 2 a 90, not sure what the first game got.

second half of the game is too much action in their opinion.

€dit: first one got also 90.

*Says that if it sells below 5 million copies the series is not worth continuing.

*Creates an action game with shitty horror elements.

*People don't like the new approach and punish the developers by not buying the game.

*EA/VG blames the people for killing the series.

Fuck EA.

EA should burn in hell, one millenium for each developer they destroyed...and yes, the company itself should burn :D

Yeah, there should be a special place in gaming hell for EA since the days they bought the NFL franchise just so they could kill the competition and vastly superior football games coming from 2K Sports. Good thing thye did get to do the same with the NBA franchise.

Anyways, I'm still getting DS3 I think as I just love the series and 7.5 isn't all that bad.

Whoa easyyyy there Pezus.

All three Mass Effect games were amazing, even if 3's ending was poorly executed.  What ya got against Commander Shepard?

Just sayin'. They want to turn everything into shooters or increase the action. (ME, Dragon Age, Dead Space, SimCity /jk)

This is true. I think they probably tried to get Bioware to make it even more generic but Bioware wouldn't have it. Still loved the original Mass Effect the best with it's old school sci fi Rpg elements, but the others were still great. But yeah I get your point...

If you compare the (generic shooter?) gameplay of the 3 Mass Effect games, the mechanics were much better later in the trilogy. I started in ME2 and really struggled initially in ME1 as the gameplay was so awkward. maybe I'm missing the point here but for me the 'generic shooter' elements added to the game without taking it away from its roots.

OT: Played the demo of Dead Space 3, the Necromorphs I encounter a bit of a nuisance compared to my experience of Dead Space 2. The open environment made the game less scary. Can't really disagree with the reveiw.

They made every room a kill room in ME2 and ME3 with random cover pieces thrown everywhere, and in ME3 they only had one city hub, less dialogue wheel, hacking etc.. Mass Effect 1 had a lot more exploration, however the gameplay was extremely unpolished.

Now I still like Me2 the best because ME1 is unpolished. I think generic shooter is a bit harsh for both games. Because Mass Effect still has a lot of unique elements but it was made less unique (aka more generic) so they could polish it.

However, since DS2 was extremely polished, making it a bit more generic e while having less polish is kind of nonsensical. However to say it is generic when it has a lot of unique elements such as dismemberment, stasis, zero-gravity sequences, crafting isn't really the truth either.

even if it is, there are going to be people that are going to say things like this review said anyways. It's just whether consensus would be what this review said.

If that makes any sense.

I still think it's going to be less polished, because its a longer game with less modes, in a shorter dev time than DS2. But we'll see.

I blame aging consoles.

WTF? I am sure you're talking about graphics, but truthfully graphics have nothing to do with what made Dead Space great.

Nope. Has nothing to do with graphics.
