I blame aging consoles.

Why? The game being good or bad doesn't have anything to do with aging consoles.

Lol. Vgking just wanted to post something. I don't know why people use "aging consoles" as an excuse for bad games. You can just look at the tech being used recently such as Halo 4 completely taking advantage of all the 360 has to offer to know that these current consoles STILL aren't even maxed out yet.

Of course I wanted to post something and I did. You got a problem?

Currently own:

This dosen't help me stay optimistic, ugh I knew this was going to be a mediocore game.

*Says that if it sells below 5 million copies the series is not worth continuing.

*Creates an action game with shitty horror elements.

*People don't like the new approach and punish the developers by not buying the game.

*EA/VG blames the people for killing the series.

Fuck EA.

Very disappointing. Lost a lot of respect for Visceral games for turning this franchise into another generic shooter.

This has EA written all over it. *cough* Mass Effect *cough*

Whoa easyyyy there Pezus.

All three Mass Effect games were amazing, even if 3's ending was poorly executed.  What ya got against Commander Shepard?

Just sayin'. They want to turn everything into shooters or increase the action. (ME, Dragon Age, Dead Space, SimCity /jk)

This, lol @ SimCity.

EA should burn in hell, one millenium for each developer they destroyed...and yes, the company itself should burn :D

That's not the problem of the consoles. That's a problem of the greedy publishers and devs, if they wanted they could have just made a new game, or not make anything. This game would have had the same score if it was on the new consoles.

No. This is a business and publishers need to make money. THEY NEED TO RELEASE NEW GAMES. Making sequels is a lot easier/cheaper/safer than making a new IP. If this game was on new consoles, it would be a completely different game, or it wouldn't even exist at all.

Yes they need to make money. The point is that it doesn't matter if the game releases on the PS4 or 720, the game would have had the same score. Again the problem is the publishers and devs NOT the aging consoles.

Or are you implying this is MS and Sony's fault for not launching new consoles sooner?

1) If this game were to release on PS4/720 it would be an entirely different game or it would never have released at all.

2) Current-gen consoles are at their limits and that limits creativity and makes developers play it safe.

@bold
3) Yes it is MS and Sonys fault that publishers are milking their IP. They have milked this generation far too long.

1) No it would have been the exact same game, just with better graphics (maybe not since the game start development on the 360 and PS3 so it would technically be a port). Unless they decided to delayed the game which wouldn't have made sense financially since the game needs to sell 5m units and thus that would add even more development cost. http://www.notenoughshaders.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/8.jpg

2) Creativity doesn't come from new consoles, it comes from the ability of the developers to craft such game. Just look at some indie games this gen.

3) It's EA's fault for milking the franchise. It's not like Sony and MS ask EA to make another Dead Space game.

You obviously dont' understand.

DEAD SPACE 3 SHOULD NEVER HAVE EXISTED. At least not on current-gen consoles. So the game development wouldn't have been started on PS3/360 as these consoles SHOULD BE OLD NEWS by now.

You're the one that doesn't understand.

You say Dead space 3 shouldn't have been made on current gen consoles, and you are blaming Sony and MS...guess what? that's not their problem, it is EA's problem for putting the game on the PS360. And besides it would have been almost impossible for EA to start the development of DS3 on the new consoles since they probably didn't had the dev kits until recently. There are other factor like I mentioned before that the game already have a ridiculous amount of dev cost, putting the game on the new consoles will pretty much be suicide.

Your first comment was that you blamed the aging consoles, which is not true because other games like Halo 4 have done great (in all fronts: graphics, sales, quality, etc) with 7 year old hardware. The scrore doesn't have anything to do with the console the game is for.

Aging consoles = People not easily impressed anymore

Stuff like Halo 4 and The Last of Us are the exceptions. I expect many games to receive mediocre scores this year, even if they don't deserve it.

I'm still excited for it. Though I doubt it will be better than DS2 which is one of my top 3 this gen.

The lack of polish I expected and is dissapointing I doubt they're exhaggerating  about this. It's twice as long as Dead Space 2 despite having a shorter Development cycle (3 years instead of 2) this happened with Mass Effect 3... and Dragon Age 2. You cannot magically do everything something h as to give.

The roll is more annoying than crouch... I'm just going to unmap those buttons I think haha.

The atmosphere I'll have to play it, but I didn't want it the same as 1 and 2, because it was already done to death and imo perfect.  The story was evolving, having watched all the anime, and played Extraction and stolen the ipad game :P.

The human fights are infact necessary to the story if you paid attention to anything in the previous games. That, however doesn't excuse it from being poorly executed if that is actually the case.

The crafting looks awesome. Glad to hear that it actually is awesome.

The main thing is I hope the games length isn't way too long as that hurts replay value. DS2 was Paced Amazingly, and I played it 5 times. The handcannon where isaac goes "bang bang, pew pew" was awesome. If there's too many slow parts, it makes me not want to replay it.

1) On this very review they were impressed with the graphics so I really don't understand this. People do not need to be "impressed" graphically to buy the game...CoD, Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed 3, Borderlands 2 are some examples of late games in the generation that not have "amazing" graphics and have sold well, also with decent to very good reviews.

2) What do you consider a mediocre score? Everything below 8? The games will receive bad scores because the games are bad...graphics are just one of the many aspect a reviewer has to take into consideration when given a score.
