This is gonna be a tough one to call...

On one hand, they've had Skyfall which is one of the highest grossing films of all time, they sold a record 10m smartphones in the quarter and there is a favourable exchange rate. On the other hand, however, the gaming division and TV division will be down YOY and sales of their Vaio laptops will also be down. Hmm...

how do you now they sold 10million smartphones?

$2 billion+ ~5%

Sony will raise their year end numbers (due to the sale of its NY building which closes in March) and most likely raise next years numbers also.

Sony stock up almost 10% today

Yeap Sony is getting on track... the buildings sold helped a lot.

PS3 will reach 77million and surpass Xbox360. Believe it.

The sale is yet to be finalised and therefore wont count towards this Qtrs profits. Also "Sony said it is expected to receive net cash proceeds of about $770 million. A gain on the sale of about $685 million would be recorded as operating income"
