Forums - Nintendo - How can Nintendo gamers even talk about other system failing?

I don't talk about systems failing. I do like following the sales and see how each console is doing, however. But this is a video game forum where sales are discussed and it's not surprising that there are topics about this, or that console failing. Especially when sales are not what people expected them to be. That being said, I don't really think the 3DS, or Wii U is doing that terrible.

The Wii is one of the best selling consoles of all time.  It only sold better than 1 PS console

The 3DS is selling better than the DS up to this point in it's life and the DS is the best selling console of all time.  Wrong. PS2 is still the king

The Wii U is selling better than the PS3 and 360 so far. Not if you include PS3's european launch

What are you talking about? The WiiU is doing very poorly

Also the Wii U will do awesome once the games come rolling out. I'm a grade 3/4 primary school teacher and almost everyone of my students wants a Wii U.

But according to VGChartz the DS has sold more than the PS2. Do you know something I don't?

I know something the entire website does. VGC stopped tracking PS2 numbers years ago, it's not even remotely close to actual numbers

When the Wii U is in the state it is in. The 3DS is just finally fully recovering from a disasterous blanch, and the Wii went out with a whimper.

Does it make them feel better?

Seeing as how the 3DS has sold about 10 times as many units as Vita, what you're saying is that we should hold Sony to a MUCH lower standard than Nintendo

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

But have they really sold that many PS2s since VGC stopped tracking them?

Just another Nintendo is doomed thread...

Why I love Nintendo, the 1st party games, the new ways to play that keep things fresh and I especially love the Nintendo community, so many broad minded gamers. I love how Nintendo cares about it's community with things such as club Nintendo, the Nintendo directs and now we have miiverse that brings the whole community together, I support Nintendo because there an underdog with history and the last video game only company still making hardware.

My unbiased view of WiiU and PSVita.

WiiU is out for 2 months and it sold 3 million.

PSVita is out for almost a year and it sold 4,1 million.

PSVita = Fail Fail Fail Fail FAIL!!

Because the wiiu is early bro..... It`s still ahead of the ps3 and xbox 360 pace. We won`t know what the wiiu is gonna do sales wise until after next Christmas. There aren`t that many games on the system yet which are worth purchasing a system for. The Wiiu could fail but i kind doubt it. I think it will eclipse 50 million in 6 years.

Comparing the Wii U and PS3/360 makes no sense. 7 year time gap & market changes means it's as relevant as comparing ford sales in the 90's to today.

The weaknesses are not something solely to be fixed with games, price cuts and patches, the very console itself is designed in such as way that it misses both markets, this cannot be redeemed by any of the above.

I disagree. The console's design doesn't make it incapable of producing games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda, and the new Xeno- game. People want these games, and they will buy a system to play them. And as has been said, the "core/casual" dichotomy is a severe generalization. But if you want to look at it that way, then try this: "core" gamers bought the Wii in spite of its graphical shortcomings in order to play games like Smash Bros, Xenoblade, Monster Hunter Tri. What's going to stop them buying the Wii U in a similar manner? Many praised Xenoblade to the moon and back, but said wistfully that "if only it was in HD." Well, now there IS a HD Xeno- game coming. the "core" JRPG fans will snap that up.

I agree that the Wii U will fall far short of the Wii's sales, but it's not going to fall short of the Gamecube or anything.
