I always said if Microsoft focused more on new and unique IPs like Sony does instead of wasting their time with Kinect so much, they would have won this gen.

Really? I thought the Kinect sold really well. Didn't it get a load of the casuals moving away from the Wii?

LOL no.

The guys above seem to think so. I have no idea what the figures are though, I just kind of assumed. Especially with rumors of built in Kinect 2.0 in the next Xbox, they wouldn't do that if it wasn't popular

You said that it got a load of casuals to move away from the Wii. Kinect only sold like 20m units. Even the move sold like 15m.

20 million with a system that has only sold 70 million is quite a bit.  It is pretty obvious that kinect had very positive impact on sales of the 360.  Also, 20 million kinects is quite a bit different from 15 million move accessories.  Not saying move sold poorly, but Microsoft obviously pushed kinect a lot more than Sony pushed the move...

So, the question is what qualifies a load of casuals to you?  is 1 million people a load of people.  If you saw 1 million people in one place, would you say to yourself, that is a load of people?

The way I see it is that the Wii has sold over 100 million of it's equivalent of the Kinect/Move so I don't believe that either the Kinect nor the Move has taken away any of Nintendos casual market.

People need to stop trying to compare Kinect with the legs of an actual system. The thing is an add on like a controller or headset. How many controllers or headsets a year get sold? Few million maybe. Kinect isn't a console. It won't have legs like a console or sell like a console. It is an add on for a certain audience that is optional.

Once people can come to those terms and step back from the ledge we can have an intelligent conversation about it.

The reason why people said it took away is because of the potential it had to make Wii owners move over to the Kinect and Xbox 360 after they alredy had a Wii. So instead of people buying games for the Wii they would be for Kinect and 360.

I don't know if there is any data to prove that theory though.

well, they have obviously taken some of the casual market.  Unless you are saying that kinect/move appeal to only hardcore gamers?

I wouldn't say they have taken them away though because I doubt people who used to own a Wii have know completely abandoned it for the Kinect/Move. Sure they might have bought the Kinect/Move but that doesn't mean they have completely given up on the Wii's motion controls thing.

So, you are saying that those casuals that bought kinect/move aren't likely to buy a new game on kinect/move instead of the wii?  For example, just dance is on all 3.  You think that casuals that bought into kinect/move didn't choose to buy it on the new system?  If they did, wouldn't that be taking away from nintendo's casual market?

I'm saying that there is no way to prove it.

that's true, at least for us.  The big 3 I'm sure have done research on it.  However, it can be proved that kinect/move have created a bit of a casual market on both the 360/ps3 which leads to more competition in that space.

So, in the works:

Halo 5. (343i)
Forza 5. (Turn 10)
LocoCycle. (Twisted Pixel)
State of Decay. (Undead Labs)
Ryse. (Crytek)
Class4 MMO (Undead Labs)
Gears of War: Judgement. (Epic Games)

This leaves:

Press Play
Rare
Lionhead
Lift London
Bigpark
Black Tusk Studios
Connected Experiences

Which studios am I forgetting?

studios can also be working on more than one game... like rare had two launch games for the 360... so...

Err yes like Undead Labs, it's unlikely that any of the other studios I listed with announced titles have multiple titles in the works though.

The only others I can see with two titles in the works are Rare and Lionhead.

Quite convinced MS will figure out some clever third party deals as usual though.

Rare I think has been confirmed or heavily hinted to be working on more Kinect family-friendly games, and therefore will remain out of our realm of interest for the foreseeable future.  Microsoft has absolutely destroyed the heart and soul of Rare.  It isn't even a shell of it's former self, it is completely unrecognizeable.
