I always said if Microsoft focused more on new and unique IPs like Sony does instead of wasting their time with Kinect so much, they would have won this gen.

Really? I thought the Kinect sold really well. Didn't it get a load of the casuals moving away from the Wii?

LOL no.

The guys above seem to think so. I have no idea what the figures are though, I just kind of assumed. Especially with rumors of built in Kinect 2.0 in the next Xbox, they wouldn't do that if it wasn't popular

You said that it got a load of casuals to move away from the Wii. Kinect only sold like 20m units. Even the move sold like 15m.

20 million with a system that has only sold 70 million is quite a bit.  It is pretty obvious that kinect had very positive impact on sales of the 360.  Also, 20 million kinects is quite a bit different from 15 million move accessories.  Not saying move sold poorly, but Microsoft obviously pushed kinect a lot more than Sony pushed the move...

So, the question is what qualifies a load of casuals to you?  is 1 million people a load of people.  If you saw 1 million people in one place, would you say to yourself, that is a load of people?

The way I see it is that the Wii has sold over 100 million of it's equivalent of the Kinect/Move so I don't believe that either the Kinect nor the Move has taken away any of Nintendos casual market.

The reason why people said it took away is because of the potential it had to make Wii owners move over to the Kinect and Xbox 360 after they alredy had a Wii. So instead of people buying games for the Wii they would be for Kinect and 360.

I don't know if there is any data to prove that theory though.
