I always said if Microsoft focused more on new and unique IPs like Sony does instead of wasting their time with Kinect so much, they would have won this gen.

Really? I thought the Kinect sold really well. Didn't it get a load of the casuals moving away from the Wii?

It did way better than anyone expected and gave the 360 a big boost.

Some people just harp on MS's dedication to Kinect too much. They were never a big retail release company before Kinect and they still aren't. They still get most of their games and exclusive content via timed exclusives and snatching up phenomenal downloadable games and putting them on XBLA. There's no guarantee they do any better this gen if they focus less on Kinect.

Either way going from 24 million or whatever to what will eventually be 80 million+ and watching Sony marketshare drop in half, I think MS will take this gen exactly as it played out.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

LOL no.

The guys above seem to think so. I have no idea what the figures are though, I just kind of assumed. Especially with rumors of built in Kinect 2.0 in the next Xbox, they wouldn't do that if it wasn't popular

You said that it got a load of casuals to move away from the Wii. Kinect only sold like 20m units. Even the move sold like 15m.

A: Good stuff, I would assume these would be Black Tusk Studios IP, MS Victoria IP, Lionhead IP and... ?
Most others already have stuff in the works I think.
.

Kinect was a huge surge for Microsoft. It sold incredible ... and then it didn't. It pretty much fell off a cliff. However, I still think Kinect was kind of a test for Microsoft to prepare for a version that would launch with their next console, that would be closely associated with it from the start, so that there isn't a divided experience.

As for the article, who knows. These might be core or casual Kinect 2.0 titles, or even a mixture. No reason to get excited until we know something about them. That way no one gets hyped for what turns out to be Joyride 2.

Seeing how Gears isn't a first party IP you would be wrong.

So, in the works:

Halo 5. (343i)
Forza 5. (Turn 10)
LocoCycle. (Twisted Pixel)
State of Decay. (Undead Labs)
Ryse. (Crytek)
Class4 MMO (Undead Labs)
Gears of War: Judgement. (Epic Games)

This leaves:

Press Play
Rare
Lionhead
Lift London
Bigpark
Black Tusk Studios
Connected Experiences

Which studios am I forgetting?

If I had to guess the games/studios it would be

Fable 4
Rare AAA Title
Black Tusk AAA Title
Dance Central 4

I remember reading about that cinematic experience type game they were in the process of doing though.

20 million with a system that has only sold 70 million is quite a bit.  It is pretty obvious that kinect had very positive impact on sales of the 360.  Also, 20 million kinects is quite a bit different from 15 million move accessories.  Not saying move sold poorly, but Microsoft obviously pushed kinect a lot more than Sony pushed the move...

So, the question is what qualifies a load of casuals to you?  is 1 million people a load of people.  If you saw 1 million people in one place, would you say to yourself, that is a load of people?

studios can also be working on more than one game... like rare had two launch games for the 360... so...
