I don't think this completely rules out a price drop this year but I agree that doing it in the absence of big games may not be sufficient to change WiiU's present moment, and therefore would be a 'risky move'.
For those saying this is the same as the 3DS, it isn't. 3DS was launched at a price that was too high, with Nintendo making a tidy profit on each console i.e. they were being greedy. They were then forced into a situation where they had to drop the price to an extent that they were then losing money on every console sold.
With WiiU Nintendo is already losing money on every console sold. Nintendo feels that they have the price for the WiiU as low as they can reasonably go at this time (i.e. they are not being greedy like with the 3DS), but concede they do need to do a better job of highlighting the value of the system. Which they do.
