Forums - Nintendo - Iwata discusses Wii U/3DS with investors!

I say, don't bother with a price cut, just keep a steady output of games, and wait until you can afford to price cut.

I also think they should focus on bringing also more Wii-experience: WiiU-sports and other motion-games are needed as an addition.

miyamoto- smartphone games are now so functional users become satisfied, our mission is to offer more and hence users buy our systems

This is something I long ago identified as a problem for Nintendo but people here still think it's a completely different universe. To an extent it is, but it's a different universe that's stealing Nintendo's audience. Glad to see Nintendo sees the threat. Not sure they can do anything about it when Android games will also be all over peoples TVs

Iwata should stop taking all responsability for what happens. Yes, he is the president of Nintendo but the decisions are taken by all the members of the board, not only by him.

With the disaster that was the launch of the 3DS he was on the verge of getting fired by the angry investors, I don't think he will be able to get saved again. And if that happens, things could go a lot worse for Nintendo.

I like their honesty; they don't need a pricecut. That would make more sense shortly before the other systems launch . The games coming out should stop it falling further; and a stellar holiday will give them the next-gen upper hand.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

If, somehow, they still find themselves unable to turn things around around this time next year, I do wonder if he´ll resign.

Surely, we think a price cut plus Mario Kart/WiiFit U/WiiSports U will do wonders, but theres´the possibility WiiFit U and WiiSports U won´t come anywhere close to having the impact WiiFit and WiiSports did..in other words, we´ll see if the ship has sailed on those games.

Mario Kart U, despite not knowing anything about it, still seems to be the most promising title, imo.

Maybe, but the doubt is still there.

If Iwata leaves the Co., who will be the new president? And who will make him president? If it's the board then we can hope for a transition without too many changes, but if it's the investors who choose the new president I'm not so sure that will be the case.

I mean, the investors have asked many times to put their games on mobile platforms to increase revenue and so Iwata have been able to avoid that. I wonder if a new president would be able to keep avoiding that or instead will pursue that goal. And if that's the case I'm afraid that Nintendo won't be in the hardware busines for much longer.

And like Miyamoto said, something different.
