Despite the new console unveilings, a new Mario/Kart, Smash Bros, etc, there is not a single thing from this year's E3 that has me as excited as the debut of Retro's WiiU game.

For all we know their MK7 work was a trial run, and they've been working on MKU since then.

I agree with you entirely. Nintendo needs new IPs, and Retro deserves the freedom to create whatever they want.
