@Claude: I think that the best new ips for PS3 were Bladestorm and Resistance (in terms of sales in Japan). They maybe didn't sold extremly well (around 150k) but nevertheless around 1/3 of what best-selling PS3 game sold there. So not that bad afterall I think. And if you add to this that Resistance is a shooter than you must say that they liked at least one new IP.

I think it will in Japan. Its kind of like the games Japanese people buy.

Depends what mood the japanese are in when its released; right now theyre firmly picking up casual items, which LBP sorta fits into. The only problem is I remember reading the japanese havent taken to the PSN as readily as the rest of the world, which is obviously where LBP is gonna shine so that might hinder it.

If Home manages to find its way to our consoles and the japanese take to that I think LBP has the chance to do very very well. Does anyone know if SOny ever release PSN download numbers? Otherwise we'll have another warhawk which looks like its doing poor but the download numbers were very impressive (100,000 logged on in 2 days or somethin stupid like that).

It could be a huge hit, or flop with less than 50k......

It will go either way I don't see just average sales for it, it could do well cause it has that new idea smell that Japan has been liking recently, or could flop cause of the whole it looks too hardcore let me go play Wii Fit idea.
