Forums - Sales - Vita vs. Vita

How the Vita will do in the second year?

Worse (<3 million) 138 21.97%

Same (3-4 million) 161 25.64%

Better (4-7 million) 254 40.45%

Doubling (>7 million) 75 11.94%

Total:628

Sorry, I forgot to update the thread with last weeks data. I actually put the data into my spreadsheet, but didn't update the thread. This shall be done now. Next weeks data will probably be available soon.

Anyways, the weeks data is highly interesting. Some games and a pricecut (the pricecut was the week, right?) propelled the sales of the Vita. That is great. The week sales for Japan are bigger than any week before in japanese sales for the Vita. The gap to last years cumulated sales grow, because at the same time last year was the effect of european and american launch in effect. That will be less in the coming weeks, so it is interesting to see if the Vita can start now to reduce the gap to last years sales.

Should be interesting from here to see where it stabilises.

Yes. And looking at the Famitsu/MC-thread it seems to have a second week at 60K in Japan. That should be good.

At week #9 the difference is 383,660 units more YTD for the Vita 2012. It is in the spreadsheet if you have interest for the details, the link is at the bottom of the OP.

thanks and damn! Vita will catch in 6-8 weeks at this rate! (not good considering Vita sold 3.6mil last year)

It is very good news, far more impressive than I had anticipated (and I was called optimistic with my predictions!).

So it's a good thing in the short term, yet the long term remains to be seen.

Now stuff starts to get exciting for Vita :) I feel that this year is going to be better than last one! And it's starting now :)

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

At this point, it's still likely to be only flat YoY sadly. And it's got a lot of ground to make up.

And the Vita will likely drop heavily next week as well in Japan, so it'll go down to around 50k WW.

But yeah, soon.

I think that March and April should be really good for Vita in Japan. Many good games are released. Also word of mouth should finally kick in. When the NA/EU launch spike passes, this Japanese boost should still be working and putting Vita above last year's sales. Hopefully Sony does an equally good job in the West with the price cut. I'm just going to say - this year it's so far, so good and there are still lights in the tunnel.
