Well to be completely fair, it shows how much sillier the doomcalling is, knowing full well that a new 3D Mario, Mario Kart and a new 3D Zelda will be released mid-cycle. Games that sell more than the PS3's top 10 (ignoring the 3rd party CoD).
To be fair though I think we have seen the same song and dance before. Nintendo having all these titles coming mid stream is a nothing more than despriation moves and despriate nintendo can be iffy with their game quality. Its good for gamers but well have to wait and see. Iwata mentioned that the next zelda is still big budget (i.e. not learning anything from SS) and Nintendo games outselling the PS3 top ten doesnt matter, we had two generations where the same thing occured and the playstation still came out on top, by a fairly huge margin.

I didn't know dropping games mid stream would be considered desperate. So, if Sony or MS announce another exclusive between now and e3, does that make them desperate?

The ND wasn't focused at any 3rd party game, only exclusives tittles. Don't quote me on this but there's supposed to be a 3rd party ND on February, I just saw this on a internet comment so take that as you will.

This is probably a waste of time... but..
People don't all rush out to buy a console for one game they want. Not every single person who bought an X-Box 360 bought it the moment Halo 3 came out. A lot of people are going to wait till the system has a few more games. Some people are looking for something besides 2D Mario. Some people really love Mario Kart, others are into Wii Fit etc.
And of course, some people just are looking for a combination of things. Uncharted looked cool, but it wasn't enough to make me run out and buy a PS3. Heavy Rain came out, and I wanted the system a little more. Infamous 2 looked really cool as well. It wasn't one game that made me buy a PS3, but a combination of factors.
Likewise, there are going to be some people who like 2D Mario, but not enough to invest in a Wii U. But those people might buy a Wii U for New Super Mario Bros, Wii Fit, and Mario Kart. Like any other console sales increase when the library increases.

I do not agree with this at all, mario has lost most of its appeal, you can looks at wiiu sales and compare to other launches, sure they compare great to systems were sold out/limited in stock but if you look at the bigger picture its selling similer to a dead system called the wii with plenty of stock and no shortage to speak of, the fact that the xbox 1 out sold 2 to 1 in the same time frame in the us is very telling.

sure those are expected every gen but those where not what got people hyped but rather the ones I mentioned and we all saw what MK, 3D mario and Zelda OoT did for the 3DS
I agree with you on the no new 3rd party stuff though which I hope will improve with E3 announcements. they are getting RE:R and who knows what the new game will be in the Nintendo magazine coming next month

oh, hadn't heard that.
and no, i haven't bought a wiiU. i may, i may not. you forget i've owned every nintendo home console since the NES plus a GB and DS. my hate for nintendo and these forums is due to nintendo failing to deliver a gaming platform worth my money last gen. i felt exteemly ripped off. i won't buy a wiiU as an early adapter, of that i'm certain. ..but i might buy one a year or two in if they can deliver a system worth my money. we'll see.

well according to Rol there is a third party ND scheduled so i may have to retract my post. hopefully it is as good as this ND.
