If that's their primary goal than Sony and Nintendo need to step up their primary goals. Because MS doesn't appear to be any less focused on games than their competition.
I don't know what you mean by, "they will drop the ball completely for their multimedia aspirations." It just doesn't make sense considering their multimedia aspirations have already been successful thus far.

ames They will keep pushing to make sure they take Sonys thunder as the multimedia console. As Sony puts multimedia as a secondary to the games, the Xbox name has expanded into phones, and more.

I don't feel like you made a point.

I will make breaks between each word for you.
Micro...soft..........is......expan...ding......multimedia....into the fore...front by...and intergrating....every......device usable...in your household. They might have a couple new games, but their real goal is to control your living room and mobile devices. Primary focus vs secondary, multimedia has always been Microsofts primary focus, but they had to prove themselves by showing games. Microsoft makes it look like they HAVE to make games not that they SHOULD.

1. If you're gonna dumb down your explanation, try using less industry lingo.
2. Talking down to me doesn't make you appear more intelligent.
3. You didn't clarify games won't be a focus for MS. You basically just said they'll expand their hardware as a multimedia device.
The irony is you ignore Sony wanted the Playstation brand to control the living room and mobile devices. Sony has PS2 and PS3 DVRs in Japan. The PS2 had a DVD player. PSP was pushed as a multimedia device for music, movies, and streaming media. The PS3 bet on Bluray and has been a massive financial disaster. Last but not least, the PS3 was marketed as a TV PC before it launched. http://www.1up.com/news/hey-ps3-computer-game-system
You should just give credit where its due. MS has been a bigger success at one of Sony's long time goals. Probably because Live is very profitable and worth investing in.
MS controlling the living room has definitely become a goal and Xbox has become the best game console for that. MS's 2012 lineup was more impressive than Sony's. Sony didn't even have a hit. So its obvious you're downplaying MS's focus on bringing quality games.
Granted MS doesn't have much announced for 2013 thus far. Gears is coming soon and its gonna be a big year for 3rd parties anyhow. It seems obvious MS is shifting its focus to the next Xbox's library.
