To be honest the 360 is casual all around.

There are many more multi-platform games then exclusives (on consoles at least... damn you pc elites) so by saying that, the ps3 too is a casual console because more than a majority of the game library are casual games.

Every gamer is casual confirmed by this guy.

It's more that it has mass casual appeal.

I look at my cousins, they got a 360 and only buy CoDs and Minecraft.

There is much to offer hardcore wise, but sometimes all you need is a large causal draw, and the 360 has that.

I know that the 360 has a casual appeal because of Kinect but not everyone shares that view. You can't really say everyone sees the 360 as a casual because my cousin plays cod. I know a friend who uses move, not often but she does. Doesn't make the ps3 have a more casual fanbase does it?

No....I play multiplats on PC,Multiplats on PC are the and superior to the console version. Xbox only has two exclusives not on PC and even then Gears 1 is on PC.

Ps3 on the other hand has the exclusives so you get the point.

Nintendo.
Xbox has an identity crisis. It doesn't know if it wants to be a games machine or a multimedia hub, casual or hardcore...etc. Microsoft will have a tough time balancing all of this out at the beginning of next-gen.

IF they can pull it off though...they could be market leader. But who knows what Sony has planned. They'll attack that market as well.

The casuals have abandoned Nintendo, And Microsoft are going to screw them selfs if they think they can be successful by taking the Wii route next gen.

Taking the Wii route? What does that even mean?

I don't wanna put words in your mouth so can you elaborate?

Casual "Wii" route.

MS has been trying to appeal to casual gamers since the original Xbox. They bought Rare for that reason.

When MS stops pushing core games, then your argument will have some validity.

Wii/Wii U appeals mostly to casual. PS3 appeals mostly to core. The 360 has successfully appealed to both.

Why do you refer to it as an identity crisis? I'd argue trying to appeal to all markets has kept sales strong.

You said 360 is casual all round but it shares a maority of it's games with other platforms, maority rules, all are casual. I'm not seeing your point. Unless it was just a jab at he 360 for no reason of course, that I can see.

It wasn't a jab...Im trying to say PC is like an xbox because 99.9% of their library is similar EXCEPT PC plays every multiplat 100x better.

That's a jab. Like me saying Ps3 would be a casual console if move wasn't an obvious, blatant and shit copy of the Nintendo Wii. They tried to be casual and failed. Jab.

You have a point,BUT when was the last time Sony pushed the move?

Microsoft is still pushing Kinect, which is their main priority next gen. Casual? Indeed

I think a small part of it is a "cool factor" which attracts that casual crowd. Nintendo had that with the (S)NES and Wii, even the N64 to an extent, but they lost plenty of it with the Gamecube. Sony totally had it with the PS1/2, but lost a portion of it in 3. Sega only ever really had it with the Genesis. MS has really started to take that cool factor and that's partly due to the rise of Master Chief and the Spartans, but other games like Gears of War and Forza. These are big new games to many people in the last few years and having something like kinect on the side helps seal the deal for many. Now, it's hard to say how much longer that cool factor will last, or if MS will drop the ball and lose it with the next concole, but at this moment in time, I see more kids and adults wanting to play an xbox 360. It sounds cooler, is associated with more mature themes, but also gives you cartoony stuff for the kids. People have been hearing about the xbox for about a decade now and they're just finally starting to embrace it. Who knows though, maybe Apple will succeed in getting people to play their iPads on their TV within the time span of 5 years.
