Why not? The facts and analysis seem legit.

I disagree, especially with his final thought. I believe the ones who will strongly attack the casual market next gen will be the hardcore gamers.

You mean all the 10yo girls who are playing Wii sports will become hardcore gamers next gen ? oops got you all wrong nvm

Yes, this is a ridiculous joke thread. Can't be taken seriously.

What, and risk further alienating the same mothers who're letting them stay rent-free in the basement?

apple has them, kinect 2.0 might make a splash but it wont last long.

the (ultra) casual are long gone, to some exiting adventures, only a small percentage will remain out of the 80mill that were on the wii

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I want to answer, but I just can't without sounding like a fanboy lol.

To be honest the 360 is casual all around.

There are many more multi-platform games then exclusives (on consoles at least... damn you pc elites) so by saying that, the ps3 too is a casual console because more than a majority of the game library are casual games.

Every gamer is casual confirmed by this guy.

It's more that it has mass casual appeal.

I look at my cousins, they got a 360 and only buy CoDs and Minecraft.

There is much to offer hardcore wise, but sometimes all you need is a large causal draw, and the 360 has that.

Kinect 2.0 will be what casual look for if they buy console

Looking at the sales of the Wii U, it's clear the console doesn't quite have the spice that the Wii had. Much of this can be blamed on the Wii U itself, but perhaps Nintendo's perception to casuals has been damaged. If the Nintendo brand has taken a hit, then will they recover in the future? Or will someone take their place?

Kinect has been a huge success, especially considering it was just an add on. It will definitely be a big factor next gen. Microsoft could push Kinect even harder next gen, perhaps by bundling it with every console and giving it a stronger library. If this happens, could Microsoft take Nintendo's crown in the casual market?

I don't think it's possible for two different brands to see success with casuals. Nintendo was big with casuals earlier this gen. But towards the end of this gen, the Wii began to die down. Coincidentally, that's when Kinect became big. So there wasn't a time when both Kinect and the Wii were huge. However, both I think Microsoft and Nintendo will attack the casual market strongly next gen. Who will win? Who seems better equipped right now?

casual market is really a hit or miss, each gen you have to introduce something new, fresh and exciting, only the wii has achieved that and the rest have failed, even kinect which was a success for a short while is irrelevant now, the casual market is not dependable, you might get them but you can't keep them.
