Funny how I went to the thread reading the top line of the OP. All I can see was "..Most amazing handheld ever". I was even wondering why the title didn't match the picture.

Then I scrolled down to see the rest of the picture just to see a whole shelf empty. Bahahahahahahaa

Does anyone know how PS3 sold @ Walmart though? Isn't Walmart known not for sellings stuff cheaper but for selling cheap stuff? Vita is more premium hgher end feel, not sure if it resonates with value shoppers.

It reminds me of the Japan stores that stopped selling the Xbox 360. It's kinda too bad, hope it can recover.

Discount retailers do just as well or better then more upscale retailers when it comes to selling name brand goods at name brand prices. These retailers just see a larger cross section of consumers then more upscale retailers. The reality is that the total number of consumers who would be willing and able to buy this product. Are actually greater in number at a discount retailer then they are at a upscale retailer. The display of this product at a discounter may see five to six thousand consumers visit it in the coarse of a average day. Where as the display at a more upscale retailer may see all of two hundred visits in a day.

That means that the number of chances to sell the product is actually fairly high. The fact that it isn't selling well at all even with this benefit is kind of alarming. It means that the product is probably even performing worse in other venues, because it has a much lower chance of selling in them. Ironically the spending ability of the consumers isn't even the concern here, because Walmart routinely sells much more expensive things on a daily basis, and they don't appear to have a problem when it comes to selling more expensive gaming devices.

All of the other consoles and portables seem to be selling fine. Which is evidenced by the shelf space they are allotted. The money is obviously there, but for whatever reason nobody seems to want to buy the Vita. The problem is most definitely not the venue. Unless you are suggesting that the product should be marketed as a high end luxury good.

Well all your ps vita games I guess are shifting to my stores :D, add another reason to why it's great to live where I live.

Anyway, when I went to Walmart today I remembered this thread and decided to see if my store was one shifting them out. Usually it has just 1 shelf for ps vita games and 1 shelf for psp games...now both "handheld" rows are just ps vita games. All the psp games are gone, none stored behind the hardware boxes, not even on the old shelf (where some ps2 games still linger). Only one lone psp remains, likely the last at my store.

On a related note, does anyone elses Walmart have a totally sucky game section in general? At mine it is just one wall of games, one wall of accessories, and only xbox 360 and ps3 consoles are displayed. I have a bestbuy, toyrus and 2 targets in my area and they all blow Walmarts game sections out of the water. I don't really go to other walmarts, but is this just the norm?

Wal-Mart always stocks Playstation stuff and has since day 1. 

Perhaps with XBox 720 and PS4 looming and 3DS expanding, they figure they simply can't have Vita using up valuable retail space because unlike traditional console transitions, the PS3/360 likely aren't going anywhere for a while either so they will need to be fully stocked for years to come too. 

If this is true, this is a very bad sign for the PS-Vita ...

First off, it would indicate that PS-Vita games were consistently selling far lower numbers than any other platform they stocked, it would demonstrate that retailers were losing faith in Sony's ability to improve the situation, and finally it would be a pretty major blow to the confidence of a gamer who was going to buy the system.
