Probably because AC2 was a brilliant game, superior in most ways to AC3 and a huge step up from AC1.

I totally agree that it wasn't as good as AC II and it was certainly disapointing, but once I got that out of my system, I thoroughly enjoyed it

Well, I guess I was enjoying it to some degree whilst I was playing it, though never nearly as much as I enjoyed AC2.

It's just looking back that I see how disappointing it really was.

I suppose it's still a high 7 to a low 8, but that puts it fourth in the series for me (behind II, Brotherhood and Revelations), and I was hoping it would be the best of the lot. This is what annualised releases do to a franchise

This and also Kantor your previous comment.

About 10 hours in now, the story is a COMPLETE mess. I have no idea what's going on half the time. AC2 will always be the best in the series, but was hoping they actually improved it with the 3rd interation.

Trust me, it gets worse. I agree the combat mechanics are flawed. Absolutely horrible. And wait 'til you see the horrible children.

In my opinion, the franchise is headed in the wrong direction. Idk how so many reviewers gave it 9+.

Welcome to the 7th generation, where reviewers will dose out 9's to dogshit if its marked with flag of an acclaimed developer or publisher. The review system has lost all meaning in the last 6-7 years.

its def. not my favorite AC game thats for sure.

I actually enjoyed the game 70% of the time, but I agree the story is a mess overall. My gripes were, the combat/control system can range anywhere from decent-good to downright awful depending on the situation. I'd run into many times where the climbing mechanics worked great, or times when I'd repeatedly do the exact same thing and Connor would stand/hang there like an idiot, go backwards, or jump to his death... then on try number 10, he would inexplicably make the jump I'd been telling his dumb ass to make all along. The other thing was the somewhat bizarre changes in difficulty from mission to mission. I'd complete one mission 1st try with 100% sync, the next would be 20 tries of me cursing and trying not to throw my expensive gamepad, only to not get even a single optional objective, then the next mission would be inexplicably easy again. The combat system works great with some enemies & enemy groups, while other times it feels stupidly random and clunky. The absolute worst thing about the game was the annoying children who follow you around the city making bizarre laughing/whooping noises... WTF?!?! I mean really, WHAT?

Overall, what made up for it was being able to interact with some really cool points in history, the epic naval missions (except one that glitched on me twice at the end requiring me to start over), the side challenges (which I'm not anywhere near completing), the portion of the main missions that were actually fun and challenging without being broken or frustrating, as well as the huge semi-open world and the beautifully rendered cities. Good game with its fair share of flaws.

EDIT: I almost forgot, the random bears/wolves can kiss my ass.

I'm secuence 8 or so. Game is fun to me but even now I'm still learning how to use properly the controls (Wii U Version).

BTW, it has a lot of bugs. Anyway, II is better and faster in action. Ubisoft, release II in the eshop, now.

i played AC II on the X box and the story and characters were WAAAY better, ACIII is just plain boring, and parkour-ing was great in complex cities, but doesnt make sense on small towns and wide open areas

It was the worst AC I've played so far (haven't played the 1st one). Lame story, lame charachters, boring side stuff, a lot of boring main missions too, long distances to get to the missions...

I liked the naval battles and the whole parkour thing in the wild, but it wasn't too special either.
But somehow it has something that kept me playing it.

It'd get a 7 out of 10 at max from me.
