I'm surprised Rol hasn't come to the aid of 2D Mario yet! (Maybe he agrees...)

No I agree, they have flooded the market. I used to get excited when a Mario game released, now it's more of a "bleh" feeling. He needs a long break, at the very least a year, but preferably more. Think about how much Mario crap has been released recently.

SM3DL-A lame excuse for 3D Mario

NSMB2- A lame excuse for 2D Mario

Paper Mario Sticker Star- A lame excuse for a Paper Mario game

Mario Tennis- Nothing to say

Mario Party 8- Nothing to Say

Mario Kart 7- A lame excuse for Mario Kart

NSMBU- The sad thing is that this one is actually really good, I was just way sick of Mario.

Agreed with everything you said except about MK7 becaue I really liked it. I'm not sick of Mario yet though

As someone who is a Nintendo fan but isn't interested in Mario at all, seeing systems launch with and seeing the company shell out Mario games left and right is extremely annoying.

If I loved Mario, I suppose I would be happy. But I don't, so I'm not. I really don't see the appeal in the character or the games.

I honestly wish Nintendo would give it a break for awhile and make some new Ip's for once, or show some more of the other successful ones. Obviously I don't want to see a Zelda or Pokemon game every month but I would prefer if they focused on something other than Mario stuff.

I'd be happy if the titles they released for different IP's were more evenly distributed.
I wish something else would be done with Kid Icarus. I loved the game and he is an extremely awesome character imo.

I suppose it's odd for a Nintendo fan to not like Mario, and in a way I wish I WOULD like Mario so I could stop feeling so weird about it lol. But it's really only my love of Zelda and Pokemon that keep me a Nintendo fan, I could care less about Mario or any of it's spinoffs.

But that's just my own opinion and I know there are plenty out there who love Mario to death.

I only enjoy the Mario Rpgs and 3D platformers I have no care for the 2D ones. You are not alone. (Why not Fire emblem? lol)

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

Zelda is the only thing that still makes me a little interested in Nintendo, Mario is more of the same, Galaxy was the only good thing that happened to the franchise after Super Mario World(SNES), Metroid went to crap with Other M.

Oh yeah I totally love Fire Emblem my bad. It's been a long day, just got back from a 5 hour chem class lol. I can't wait for Awakening!

Nice to hear i'm not completely alone haha.

More than half of Wii U's owners have the game (and that's not counting digital sales... and I know a lot of people got it digital, since it wasn't bundled).
So... Mario still does his/its job.

Releasing a Mario after several months/years of "Mario Draught" would for sure catch people's attentions. It would sell tons. (I suspect.)

Lol your erratic as of late.... I like it.

The issue with mario is that Nintendo released nsmb 2 and nsmbu too damn close together (which diluted the hype that should have existed for nsmbu)...maybe if there was some kind of connectivity between the 2 games, or they were somehow directly related this could've worked to nintendo's advantage, but as it stands, they really just released 2 similar games for 2 different consoles, in a similar time frame which probably kinda killed peoples exitement...a new mario game is something to look forward to, get excited about, crave, have sleepless nights waiting for (or so nintendo would want you to believe), so releasing more than one similar game at roughly the same time kinda dilutes that desire somewhat for many people (I know this strategy has worked for nintendo in the past but that's when the games were more closly related...and this time it wasn't a planned strategy just bad timing)...I mean why rush out and buy a console to play the brand spanking new 2d mario game, when you've just been playing a brand spanking new 2d mario game on a console you already own for the last 2 months???  It's unfair cos nsmb2 on 3ds sucks while nsmbu is actually pretty good, and I fear the former has tainted the latter in some peoples eyes.

Also, releasing a 3d mario game or something that actually shows off what the wii u is capable of might have had a better impact on the consumer. I mean, aside from being in hi-def, there's really nothing about the game that couldn't have been possible on the wii with slightly weaker graphics. Lotta people would've seen nsmbu in shops on demo screens and said 'hm, is that all this machine is capable of?'...I remember when the n64 launched and mario 64 blew peoples minds. That's the effect nintendo should go for these days but they don't seem interested.
