Serious thread?

USA

Black Ops 2 (360), 8 Weeks of data - 6,206,912
Halo 4, 9 Weeks of data - 4,776,509

UK

Black Ops 2 (360), 8 Weeks of data - 1,698,402
Halo 4, 9 Weeks of data - 803,432

Worldwide

Black Ops 2 (360), 7 Weeks of data - 11,212,775
Black Ops 2 (PS3), 7 Weeks of data - 9,219,827
Halo 4, 8 Weeks of data - 7,387,969

In short, Halo isnt even in the same league as Call of Duty.

This. CoD is the WoW of shooters. Halo has a pretty stable fanbase, but I doubt it will grow any bigger. There is no sign that points towards that. CoD might get smaller, but not Halo small.

This really makes it sound like Halo had a "small" fanbase :D

On the 720 only ? I agree with you, Halo 5 has a very good chance of outselling that years COD on Xbox 720 only...

Lets assume this will be in 2014. The userbase for 720 will be relatively small (15 million maybe). The mass market kids wouldn't have bought the 720 yet. Amongst the core gamers that will get the 720 in the first year, I like the Halo vs COD chances any day.

Especially if COD is another cross platform milkfest, and Halo 5 puts next gen tech to good use.

No, it has a huge fanbase. But compared to CoD it has a small fanbase. When you compare how much both series sold this gen, Halo is small in comparison. Compared to other games a big IP

I wouldn't nail the size of a fanbase on the absolute sales. Way more CoD games were released, OF COURSE it did sell much more. But if you take the average sales of the franchise, I'd say Halo has like 70-80% of CoD's fanbase. Thats by no means "small".

I doubt it, the only thing that has potential to overcome CoD is the new Bungie project, as it will be multiplat, it can crush CoD.

Impossible.

You are predicting next gen Halo on the next XBox platform will end up outselling Call of Duty across ALL platforms?

No I think he means on the next xbox the next halo will sell better then the next COD. There is a chance- with the first release of both series, if there's a radical shift in the market or if franchise fatigue sets in.

To put things into perspective though:

COD is way, way bigger than Halo. COD has sold more copies on the PS3 than Halo has over 2 generations Xbox+Xbox360.

Not only is COD is bigger in NA but there's a massive disparity in sales in Europe.

Highest selling Halo: 2.71m

Highest selling COD: 4.73m

On the 360 alone this generation:

COD: 73 million copies.

Halo: 39 million copies.

No comparison.

why not look at the totals instead of one week of data..
