Forums - Nintendo - Any other company would have fired their CEO by now. Time to fire across the board at Nintendo!

Wait... any other company would have fired their CEO by now, after Nintendo had ONE year of losses? Really?

Companies that have done far worse than Nintendo under a certain CEO have had the CEO stay on indefinitely with an increased bonus, and then given a golden parachute when they do leave. Why should Nintendo fire the CEO based on a single bad year that is 90% attributable to exchange rates, after said CEO took a massive pay cut in response? Especially when the same CEO was the one that orchestrated Nintendo's prior rise to heights never seen before?

I guess I just don't see how anybody could conclude that Nintendo's leadership is the problem.

ninty does not need 3rd pary. in fact, that's the problem now. whether Rol was joking or not, he was right.
let any 3rd party dev. work on WiiU at there own risk, while ninty do what they do best.

Ryan!! what is it that you want Nintendo to do? and as for makeing. ninty is likely waiting for their big guns put marketing into full swing.

oh a doom thread. How original. Nintendo is fine, relax.

it's Ryan, how in gods name(if you believe in that sort of thing)relax. i couldn't possibly consider this a doom thread.

@Fox :where did you come from.

Ocean should be happy, with 3DS passing 10 million units in Japan and Pokemon X & Y being announced for worldwide in October. A great day for 3DS news, and it looks like 2013 should easily be 3DS's best to date, everywhere.

Hopefully this results to a more positive outlook for Nintendo and our shares :(

What are you talking about?

Iwata done nothing but good things to Nintendo. Without him, they would've probably been in a bad shape. You're way too panicky, especially since all their hardware is doing good to great and there is no way they didn't make a profit this year. Stocks will rise once the uncertainty amongst investors disappears. This low point is just a transition period, it's always risky putting out new product no matter how well others in the past did.

I for one have complete faith in Iwata's competence as a leader, as evidenced by the events of the previous years when he had to make the tough decision of selling hardware at a loss for half a year to increase it's future prospects and to take personal responsibility on Nintendo's first loss ever by taking a very large pay-cut. Not to mention the way he turned the company around at the start of the last gen.

Okay... Well. The problem with all of these doom and gloom threads is that people seem to be saying if Nintendo is successful or not by looking at their own personal feelings for each of the individual games and products.

You and your tastes do not speak for the whole, or for the economy. Get over yourself.

By the numbers, 3DS is doing fine, and more than fine in Japan. It needs a strategy to capture people in EU and US, and Pokemon X + Y was a step forward for that.

Wii U is a little underwhelming, because it's not selling like Wii, but it is easily going to outsell the Gamecube. What Nintendo fans should fear right now is that announcement of the nextbox and the ps4, because that could have potentially devastating effects on 3rd party support for Nintendo.

But to change the CEO now is ... way too preemptive. Iwata hasn't really messed up since the launch of the 3DS, and there has been immense recovery from that since.

Just as a footnote to some of the stock price chat we've had, Nintendo announces a massive title for this fall that will probably move millions of hardware units and sell upwards of 15 million copies and has a worldwide simultaneous release for the first time. What happens to share price? It drops 3% naturally. As game fans and shareholders we can mix our passions, but most investors do not. They do not understand the business. They do not follow games. They follow profits, dividends and hype. NTDOY is stuck in a slump until Iwata says "profit!", and until kids and wives and girlfriends start seeing that fancy touchscreen pad at a friends place and want one of their own and CNN does a story about it. We need to be patient.

Yes this is good news!

The reason Nintendo fails to get third party support is because Nintendo is adamant that they are a 'family company' and make games families and kids can play. When they grow up and create newer characters for and older audience that have grown up with them then you'll probably see a change, but until then they are stuck. Iwata and Miyamoto pretty much the main guys responsible for this as well. I wouldn't exactly blame Reggie because if he could I am sure he'd get all the core third parties titles.
