John Carter was actually a great movie. It's a shame most reviewers and movie goers didn't understand that.

Oh and that Vita paragraph is just horrible! I understand putting it on a list like this but they should at least put some effort into explaining why it belongs. By saying it cost $300 the writer comes off as manipulative.

It's kinda weird seeing John Carter up there.  It grossed ~$283M WW, so it made back more than its "production budget" and made even more with home video sales.  So, it at least broke even.  Of course, movie studios always exaggerate the costs of movies to make them seem bigger than they really are, so it probably made a decent profit.

As for the Vita, it's really the only product on that list that has the ability to turn things around.  A few more good games, as well as an inevitable $50 price cut in 2013 (and probably a $150 Black Friday bundle), should definitely see it rise YOY by a good margin.

From what I've heard, films need to make about twice as much money at the box office as their budget was to break even. I pretty much doubt that it even made a $1 profit even with DVD/Blu-Ray revenue.

Then you're horribly misinformed.  The "production budget" covers everything but marketing.  Which if Disney is truthful in the costs of the film and marketing, then it would need to make $350M to break even.  However, like I said above, movie studios always exaggerate their budgets to the public to make them seem bigger than they are.  I'm sure Disney turned a small profit on the movie.  Of course, that's not what they wanted ideally.

So what do cinema operators earn per sold ticket ? $1 profit ?

$282.7 million dollars world wide is barely more then its $250 million production budget and of that $282.7 million the studio only gets back about half of that.  Also Disney spend over $100 million dollars in advertising the movie.  So its nowhere near being profitable even when you include home video and on demand numbers.  Rich Ross resigned because of the poor performance of the movie anytime some gets fired or resigns because of how one movie performs you know that you have a major bomb.

I kinda like the look of the Dodge Dart its definitely a better looking car then the car its based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta its also the first car available with a 9 speed automatic transmission. Also they modified the Dodge Dart into the Fiat Viaggio for the Chinese market so it still has the potential to be a future hit in China. Its also better then the previous two small car entries by Dodge the Neon and the Caliber.

I think all the dart needs is an SRT version. Make it AWD, give it 300+ HP/Torque, give it the sexy SRT look, and keep it around 30K and people will flood in. If they can make the SRT a 'cool' car, then people will buy the lower end version to be part of the in crowd.

Since the budget doesn't include advertising actually most movies need to make a bit more then twice their budget.  John Carter had a rumored $100 million marketing campaign on top of its $250 million dollar budget so its nowhere near profitable.  Its one of Disney's biggest bombs along with The Alamo and Mars Needs Moms and will probably never turn a real profit.

It's not really manipulative. The 3G model DID cost 300€ and the standard one 250€ with the need to buy an expensive memory card. The statement seems to be about right.

So it's right to use the price of a premium SKU that super flopped to explain why the cheaper SKU has done poorly? That's like in a year saying the Wii U costs $350 even if the deluxe edition was phased out by then.

If it means $300 to include a $50 memory card then that is also manipulative because only a fool would not buy a bundle including both a game and, basic, memory card at $250.

If it only stated $300 I wouldn't think too badly of it but that's not the only mistake. The 3DS did not sell 3.6 million in its first month, or even its second, third, or fourth. According to VGC numbers it reached 3.6 global sales the second week of August. The only way to spin it to not being a flat out lie is by saying "the 3DS sold very roughly 3.6 million in the month since PS Vita's Japan launch." Even saying this is wrong but might be what yahoo meant. Whatever is going on, these numbers are manipulative and should have presented much better.

Also it states Sony clumped sales of the Vita and PSP together to avoid these embarrassing numbers. Again this isn't quite true.
